+Team Maddie UK
Hi Folks, Not sure if anyone has posted concerning this before, but has anyone noticed that caches do indeed move about when using the Google Earth overlay thingy? It really is quite frustrating. Lynn and I are about to embark on a wee holiday to Malta. Unfortunately, memory map doesn't stretch that far so I have been printing out a few aerials from Google. But everytime I go back, the caches have moved. I resorted to putting my own place marks on there with the Lat/Long from the cache page. These seem to stay put. Any comments anyone? Sorry can't help with your question though. Quote Link to comment
+Pieman
When I use Google Earth the caches jump about as you watch and you certainly can't use it to do anything more then identify the general cache area. I think this has been mentioned previously and some people claimed that when they used it the position of the cache stayed put and in the right place. Quote Link to comment
+Simply Paul
I tend to use the 'Geocaching.com Google Map' link on cache pages, and haven't notices any 'creep' exhibited by the markers on it. That's not to say it doesn't do the same thing as Google Earth does... Quote Link to comment

What he said Google Earth is supposed to shuft them about a bit for some reason, but Google Maps haven't done for me as far as I am aware. Quote Link to comment
Deceangi
Are you referring to the GC Google Earth Add on which shows the location of caches [which can be downloaded from your account page]? With this there is a deliberate fudge factor built in by GC, the shown position of caches deliberately moves around, by anything up to one hundred metres I believe . This is done to insure that people actually visit GC to obtain cache details and coordinates. Quote Link to comment
+dino-irl
Have you tried this: - Export as Mapsource file from GSAK - In Mapsource click on the "View in GE" option I'm stuck at the airport so can't check exactly but IIRC that gets around the moving issue. I'll swear I saw it recommended here before. Quote Link to comment
+Just Roger
You can also load a GPX into GE (File - Open,) and that avoids the Groundspeak dithering. Quote Link to comment
