+007BigD
Gonna be selling abunch of coins and have not ever sold on ebay before. First off, I never thought I would ever sell any of my coins as of 1 month ago...and not till last night where I created a master scheme to make it not only beneficial, but exciting and rewarding as well to actually do this...I almost cant wait! I have picked out roughly 100-130 coins ranging in rare to common that I will try the selling thing on ebay till I got what I need...My plan is to sell these coins, create my own coin, then sell my coin. Thus far making me able to get my coin done and maybe even make a few bucks on it rather selling my coins for hard times sake... Two birds~One stone kinda thing, just takes a few shots to get em Any ideas or suggestions on what to do or what to avoid, that a non seller may not know yet? Can I use trader lists pics? Should I sell the common ones here instead? List em so many a week rather than all at once? Maybe special features on ebay such as the desription line being worth it sometimes? Dunno at all really...I guess its just selling your coin...I would just jump in, but no harm in askin for advice either. Thanks Quote Link to comment
+lindsychris
One bit of advice (we haven't sold many coins on ebay), would be to make sure you pay the little bit extra (35 cents maybe?) to have your picture included in the gallery. When looking at coins on ebay, we always scroll down through the list of auctions and check out the pictures before reading the description. Quote Link to comment
+Cheesy pigs
Yeah definitely include the pictures. You could always try selling them here first at a set price - there are no eBay fees tacked on Just remember, if you list them all at once, you will have a mammoth job having to sort them all out and post them off... On eBay dont make the initial price too high (people wont bid, even if other coins of the same type sell higher). Also dont make it too low, or people will wait until there is about 30 seconds left, then grab it. I have found that selling them to your geocoin mates on the forum is simply the BEST way of getting rid of more common coins. Here would be a good place to say - thanks everyone for supporting my 'sell offs' On Ebay, you have the insertion fees plus the PayPal ees if you use that. It really can bite into any profits you may make. It is better to use pictures of the actual coins (especially if they have been out of their plastic cases) as some coins can get a bit battered or have unique 'faults' or differences. Also dont try to use other eBayers photos Dont list coins as Rare or VHTF or Sold Out if they aren't - not that YOU would Um, I think that's it for the time being. Quote Link to comment
+mrjiffy
Hi, I have not sold any geocoins on ebay before, but have bought quite a few and have sold lots of other things. Don't list too many at once, as one other poster mentioned, it can be a nighmare to ship everything at once. I recommend having the listing start and end on either a Saturday or Sunday in the late afternoon to evening. It has been my experience that you get the most bidders competing for an item during these times. The gallery picture is also important and a nice clear photo for the listing. I almost personally never bid on items with poor photos, because you just dont know what you are getting. Make sure to check out what else is being offered on Ebay at the time. If there are too many of an item being offered during the same time or weeks prior, you will not get as good a price. Good Luck, MRJIFFY (Jason) Quote Link to comment
+AtlantaGal
Can I use trader lists pics? No. It violates eBay's seller policies: http://pages.ebay.com/help/policies/review...ture-theft.html Trading list photos, at least mine, are for non-commercial use only. Quote Link to comment

Liz's advice is all very good, and I agree with it 100%. Also, make sure you allow international sales please I was going to suggest the easiest way to get rid of them would be in cointests... but then I saw you wanted to et some money out of it for you own coin! Good luck. Quote Link to comment
+MommyFinder
A lot of good advice in here already, so take it! Gallery pictures are very important, I scroll right past ones with no gallery pictures. I also scroll right past ones with VHTF in the title, even if it is VHTF. I just don't know when they are VHTF, so I don't trust any listing that says that. Large clear pictures with your descriptions, and complete descriptions, including size, metal type, minting numbers, etc. Anything you can think of. Don't steal others' pictures. Really ticks me off when I see my pictures on others' listings (I've even found my complete description - word for word). If you need a picture and find one you like, ask first. I've given permission several times to use my pictures! Also, you can get much bigger pictures in there if you include them directly in your descriptions using <img src.....>. Of course, the pictures have to be on another server somewhere, but that's easy enough. Just ask if you need help with that. And I agree, you should try to sell them here first! Saves you time and money! Quote Link to comment
+wesleykey
Taking good photos of geocoins can be the hardest part. Make sure you are competent at this first. I end up taking 20 photos before I get one I like. Quote Link to comment
+steel city babes
"Geocoin" in the title is a must!!!! Especially if you want me to find it and make a bid on it...and others will bid over top of me therefore making you more money.... I only search by the word geocoin and then I am off to look for a rare bargin(anything under $20) on e-bay . I agree with others search there first you may see 20 on there of the same coin and may never sell...place those here for us to take a stab at.... I would place the "rare" or "sold out" coins on ebay to make a little extra...NEED Picture pay the extra, I skip over those without unless something in the title catches me... Good Luck!!! +501_Gang
Don't put a 'reserve' on the coin. If you have a price you must get for it, make that the starting price. I don't even waste my time trying to figure out what the reserve price is. I'd rather have the seller be honest and start it at their asking price. Quote Link to comment

+Eric K
Also when using e-bay a lot of people will look at your feedback. A key way to get positive feedback is to make sure you ship your items quickly! Quote Link to comment
+T"n"T
Well,,,, you got most the really important advice already. You have to have a good picture, pay the gallery fee, End on the weekend mid day, don't over whelm yourself rightoff, clearly mark that the coins are unactivated and if they have an icon, and have fun. But trying to clear out a few here is still a really good idea too. Us crazies are always looking for more coins. Quote Link to comment
CinemaBoxers
You know... Steve over at Hogwild has that auction service on or linked on his website... you might want to check with that site... I don't think he is charging any fees to list or purchase anything on there... ~J Edit: Here's the link: http://geocoinauction.com/index.php? Nice plug for Steve! You pay an insertion fee based on the reserve price. Then you pay a reserve auction fee on top of that. Quote Link to comment
+tokencollector
This bit of advise should go withoput saying, but . . . don't forget to blur our the tracking code (or at least the last four digits of it) in your auction picture(s). Quote Link to comment
+Landsharkz
If you have a handful of the same coin to sell the 'relist the same item' feature is nice because you don't have to type it all in again. Quote Link to comment
avroair
I sell on ebay here are some tips: (1) Prepare: Set aside all the coins you plan to ebay away from your collection, make sure you have them in hand (not in pending trades). (2) Research: Take your own photos of each coin. Smudge out tracking numbers. Do your due diligence on each coin you list, find out if it is sold out, retired, limited edition, trackable etc BEFORE you list it. (3) Simplify: Make your listing quick and easy to read with all the pertinent information. People often ask for photos of the back etc. (4) What can I sell?: As a general rule you can sell coins that were initially commercial (sold to the general public). This includes personals that were sold. Don't sell 'trade only coins' and I wouldn't sell coins that were gifted to you, I guess you could ask permission, but hey, it was a gift. Currently listing fees are free through September. Quote Link to comment
+007BigD
Thanks alot, That definatley gives me some new perspectives to look at. Biggest problem is going to be taking the pics and blurring out the #'s. As far as VHTF and such...I know better Definatley will have to end em on a Sunday and you bet your bottoms ill have some just for ya'll...That was a given! Cool thing is I noticed in my email, that ebay has offered me zero selling fees till sept 30th, guess thats because I registered as a seller and never did any selling. One tactic I wont be able to use is...Wait till winter!!! I noticed many more coins and the auctions went for way more during winter time with everyone inside and out of the cold. I also had thought about starting them at .99 or .01 cause I figure more people may watch them and bid on them as well...I know it helped with me way back when. I have a feeling I may end up runnin a few through ebay...then tossin them out to you guys, it takes alot to do the ebay thing and time is short for me right now. What if I was to include "Not a Moun10Bike" in every listing ...JK Maybe even throw in a free Moun10Bike...only they wouldnt know what to say when they got my old GT! Now its just decyphering which ones will be the common coins...many common to me may not be for others...All I hope to accomplish here is being able to get my coin done and have it mine and I figure no better way than sellin off a few...Id say its a good cause for me. Originally I didnt want to sell "my coin", but after thought of selling some of my collection, I dont think there is a better way to do it...I get my coin and I will sell it for some dough instead of just sellin some of my collection...Good idea-Eh Thanks again...Definatley helps! +007BigD
No gift coins, none of my Mystery coins and very few traders even. No trade onlys for sure...I got morals ya know! Mamma tought me well! Good point on multiple coins using the same listing...saves time! Should have some pretty good coins up soon, but gonna be gone over the weekend so I hope im back in time on Sunday to list em. I really even hate to "Sell" em. Would rather trade, gift or release em if it was a perfest world. Quote Link to comment
+007BigD
I made a list of the coins I hope to sell...it all just depends on how hard it is and time consuming it is to list em. These are the ones I picked for ebay... I am sure not all will be sold there and may even end up selling a some as a Lot there instead of individually...Dunno yet I will definatley do at least one or two rounds on ebay I think. Then Ill let ya'll have at the rest of em here for around 8.50 a peice Id say, unless Id do a reverse auction till they are gone. Many more than this, this is just what I picked to ebay. 911 Turbos-Red Micro Chip Micro coin The Divinci Set Geopelli Caching in the Leaves THX4TC Army Green jeep and Red Ranger216 Set 2006 GBES Nav. I dont have Photshop and am using Microsoft Picture it. After Blurring out all the numbers I cannot Move the pics to my picture file...I have about 3+ hrs invested into this and am calling it a night. Just way to frusterated with pics and computers at this point...I could list the ones that dont have numbers in the pics first, but just dont have it in me. Very busy and have a huge day tomorrow, gonna get some grub and maybe give it a try for a 5 day auction on Tues, just gotta figure it all out. Dang this ebay stuff is hard work! +Eartha
My advice is to remove any mention of selling non-trackables from your post in order for the thread to remain open, so why don't I help you out with that and edit the post that mentions them, and the thread can stay open? (In the meantime, you can check your list and make sure none are listed.) Edited September 10, 2007 by Eartha Quote Link to comment
