How long does it take for a Geocache to be submitted?

Not to mention we're just coming off the Labor Day holiday weekend, and the reviewers are all volunteers with lives and families and such. And they probably have a huge queue of caches to review after the holiday weekend.

Huge doesn't even begin to cover it!

Both of the local cache reviewers for your area were off-line last weekend. We got back Monday night and have been working through the queue as quickly as we can but there are only so many free hours in the day.

We appreciate your continued patience and we should get to your cache soon.

I was just wondering the average time for a cache to be submitted. My Friend and I submitted a cache 4 days ago, and I expected it to be up by now.

Submitted... a nanosecond... approved may take a bit longer.

Want to quibble about terminology? Approval would take an eternity. Caches are not "approved;" they are "published."

Ha. I had the same thought as edscott. I do submit a new cache to an 'approver', do I not? But, you are right, they are listed as 'published' not 'approved.' Do we have 'publishers' that we can submit them to?

I think they are submitted to a reviewer, who publishes them if they meet the guidelines.

The local reviewers are volunteers so they are subject to the terms of the real world just like the rest of us. Our local ones seem to be quite on the ball, though. Earlier this year, I had a cache submitted in the morning, published by noon, and found by 2! Of couse your mileage may vary.
