+fyrdadandson Posted August 30, 2007 Posted August 30, 2007 Good afternoon all, Well it looks like the excitement of the new hobby is still there with my son, (and with me). I am looking for a clamp or holder for a gps V that will mount to a bicycle handlebar. Any suggestions. I saw something that might work in Cabelas in the ATV section. Just wondering if anyone else has anything. Thanks all Greg Quote
sanramonhunter Posted August 31, 2007 Posted August 31, 2007 (edited) right off the garmin website. https://buy.garmin.com/shop/shop.do?pID=554 Handlebar mount bracket 010-10122-00 $ 25.44 USD Probably find it cheaper elsewhere. Edited August 31, 2007 by sanramonhunter Quote
Revs68 Posted September 3, 2007 Posted September 3, 2007 Try www.ram-mount.com, I think that is right. They have many mounts for GPS and radios. You can custom build one from the bracket to the handlebar mount itself. A little more money than the Garmin one, but I have a few pieces coming for my Venture Cx. Quote
+Burrabbit Posted September 4, 2007 Posted September 4, 2007 (edited) I don't know what GPSR you have however I found one for the Garmin Etrex at REI I will try to link it I did a google search and found it even cheaper. Good Luck Edited September 4, 2007 by Burrabbit Quote
+bill21 Posted September 4, 2007 Posted September 4, 2007 I have a nuvi 350 I already had a suction cup mount for it I took the reflector that was clamped to the handle bars and cut the reflector off leaving the plastic backing then I glued one of garmins smooth dash mount discs to it now I can clamp the suction cup on to the disc works great cost hardly any thing and it hasnt fallen off yet I have even taken it off road Quote
+KMFA Posted September 4, 2007 Posted September 4, 2007 I use the RAM mount on my recumbent with my Garmin 60CSX. I put a quick release on it and just move the unit from car to bike. Rock solid mount well worth the extra $$. Quote
+potshot Posted September 5, 2007 Posted September 5, 2007 You could get a cheap generic cell phone holder and the top plate for an adjustable mounting post and screw the plate to the holder with the band of a hose clamp underneath it then wrap it around the handlebar and tighten it up.. That would most likely do the trick for under ten bucks. Maybe check out a local cellular shop. Schmooze the installer a bit and he will most likely have a whole box of junk posts with top plates to dig through and maybe he'll give you one . I used to be one of those installers by the way. The screw patterns of all those holders and plates are identical. Here is a setup I made for my motorcycle. The holder and the adjustable post with an improvised steering stem mount. This type of holder and the top plate of this post and a hose clamp would work fine for a bicycle. Happy Hunting! Quote
