+ClayC
I loaded the Mapsource CD that came with my 60CSx, then loaded maps onto my GPSr. Now I played with a friends Etrex and the routes worked perfectly, but mine for some reason will only follow the highways, and not the side roads. So once you get to a point where you need to turn off the highway, the line goes straight to the cache, not following any roads. Can anyone point me to what Im doing wrong? thanks, clay Quote Link to comment
BoostJunkie
What maps do you have loaded? Are you trying to auto-route to the cache? Edited August 28, 2007 by BoostJunkie Quote Link to comment
+ClayC
I have the "Mapsource U.S. TOPO CDs", it shows a lot of roads. Even the road I live on in a subdivision with 20 roads enterweaving is on the map. Quote Link to comment
+luckybobb
We also have TOPO maps and they do not support the autorouting feature so if you try to autoroute it automatically uses only the highways on the base map. According to garmin there is no way to get TOPO maps to autoroute. Quote Link to comment
+fratermus
US TOPO is not autoroutable; the GPSr is autorouting on the basemap (highways and major roads only). Quote Link to comment
BoostJunkie
The topo maps do not auto-route. If you are using auto-route, it is only going to route you using the base map to as close as it (base map) can, and then it's as the crow flies from there. If you want to auto-route the smaller roads, you are going to need City Navigator maps I think. Quote Link to comment
+ClayC
Ahhh I see. Thanks guys! Looks like I need to buy some more map software! Quote Link to comment
+ventura_kids
Use the city maps instead. They have many fireroads and dirt streets on them. You will be able to autoroute that way. Quote Link to comment
+ClayC
Another related question..... how do I erase everything on the SD card in the GPS? Quote Link to comment
+fratermus
Another related question..... how do I erase everything on the SD card in the GPS? Depends on what you mean by "everything". You can erase just the maps (which is what you probably mean), or mount the card and delete tracks, poi, etc, directly from your operating system. Quote Link to comment
strumble
US TOPO is not autoroutable; the GPSr is autorouting on the basemap (highways and major roads only). Speaking for us 'this side of the pond' our Topo software is routable, but the contour lines make it very difficult to see during autorouting! You could 'unlock' it for two units in the past! canuck travellers
Also Canada TOPO is routable, I have US TOPO & found I had to buy CN North America in the US to route to area. Quote Link to comment
