+Berta Nick Zoey Posted August 28, 2007 Posted August 28, 2007 Im thinking about going up to do the APE cache and the rest of the caches along the trail between (i think) Hyak and Rattlesnake Lake. I'd like to find someone else who wants to do this on mountain bikes. If interested, e-mail me. Id like to do it on a Sunday morning. Thanks Nick Quote
+BWidget Posted August 29, 2007 Posted August 29, 2007 I will be visiting from Los Angeles but was planning on doing the hike Friday afternoon. Quote

+Sagefox Posted September 1, 2007 Posted September 1, 2007 (edited) I have been trying to organize that trip with family members but we have some concerns about the trail conditions. Not all members have been on gravel trails yet. Anyone know what the 22 miles is like? Hard packed? Loose gravel? I might just be interested in this ride you want to organize so I can find out, first hand, if it would work for the rest of the family. My son and his daughter might come along too. Sept. 9 and 23 are booked (23rd due to Grays Harbor CM) but the rest of the sundays should be available. Edited September 1, 2007 by Team Sagefox Quote

CacheNCarryMA Posted September 1, 2007 Posted September 1, 2007 I hosted an event cache (my my first and only hosting) on Father's Day 2007. 60+ people had breakfast halfway between Seattle and the APE cache, and then we went to Snoqualmie. If you know at least two weeks in advance, post an event cache. It doesn't have to be anything elaborate. You're bound to get some attendees. GC11XT7 Quote

Thanks Nick Hey Nick, I would love to do this and I might even be able to recruit Elroy for the outing as well. The Wrastro van can carry a few bikes inside as well as a bike carrier for three more if needed. Check out the "Riden the Iron Horse" event caches for info, details and inspiration for organizing another ride. Quote
+Berta Nick Zoey Posted September 3, 2007 Author Posted September 3, 2007 Wrastro, How do I look up past event caches? I typed in the name of that event cache and got nothing. Also, Team Sagefox, the 16th wont work because I have a 4 day camping trip planned. The 23rd is the GHCM so will the 30th work for anyone? Quote
+LandRover Posted September 3, 2007 Posted September 3, 2007 Depending on timing I might just be up for this. I have already done the Ape Cache but not the ride to Rattlesnake Lake. Ridin the Iron Horse Ridin the Iron Horse II Quote
+Roland_oso Posted September 6, 2007 Posted September 6, 2007 (edited) I plan on doing the APE cache on the 15th or 16th. I have to be in the area for work on Thursday and Friday and I have all day Saturday and most of Sunday to cache in the area. Edited September 6, 2007 by Roland_oso Quote
+Berta Nick Zoey Posted September 6, 2007 Author Posted September 6, 2007 Im looking forward to this ride. Looking at all the pics posted by others who have done this, it looks like some of the best natural scenery could be seen on the ride. You Tube even has a video of part of the trail. After reading the previous event posting on this (Thanks Landrover for posting the links) their idea of a gathering point at Mickey D's seems like a good idea. I have an F-150 pick up that will hold several bikes and I dont mind parking it at either end of the trailhead. If theres no objections, how about 8AM on the 30th at Mickeys? Quote
+klossner Posted September 6, 2007 Posted September 6, 2007 I did this ride last Sunday with family and friends. Great scenery, fun times. There were so many cachers around the Ape cache that it looked like a social event. When you make a list of caches along the trail, be sure to include Old Bald Bison. Quote
+Berta Nick Zoey Posted September 11, 2007 Author Posted September 11, 2007 Bump Anyone else wanting to do the Iron Horse from Hyak to Rattlesnake on 9/30 at 8AM? Quote
+WRASTRO Posted September 12, 2007 Posted September 12, 2007 I am still hoping to do it but can't confirm yet. Quote
+MtnMutt-ProDuckShins Posted September 12, 2007 Posted September 12, 2007 Well, if any of you want to do something special along the way. I have a small task for you. I have 3 caches along the way and they each need a new IMPRESSHIN Log. These are special built logs and any of you happen have stumbled upon one knows what I mean. +MtnMutt-ProDuckShins Posted September 12, 2007 Posted September 12, 2007 Do you really want to know? It's very simple, the material is not to expenses, shoot me an e-mail and I'll walk you through the process. We don't want everyone to know. Quote
+LandRover Posted September 19, 2007 Posted September 19, 2007 Bump Anyone else wanting to do the Iron Horse from Hyak to Rattlesnake on 9/30 at 8AM? Not a good weekend for me. I've been gone quite a bit the last few weekends. The following weekend works better because the Wife is going back to Tennessee to see our Son before he ship out to Iraq. Quote
+WRASTRO Posted September 25, 2007 Posted September 25, 2007 (edited) So it looks like an event has been scheduled that would tie in nicely to doing the ride on 10/07. Fraggle69 is Visiting...Let's have a Meet & Greet GC166J1 Is the ride on for the 7th, meeting in North Bend at 8:00? Edited September 25, 2007 by WRASTRO Quote
+Berta Nick Zoey Posted September 26, 2007 Author Posted September 26, 2007 Just an update. As of now this ride is going to happen on the 7th instead of the 30th. Quote
+Allanon Posted October 3, 2007 Posted October 3, 2007 So...this weekend...Sunday morning meeting in North Bend at 8:00am...but where? I'll be picking up Fraggle69 in Woodinville/Bothell and meeting you all up there so he can ride and get the APE cache (and the other three on the way). I think he's then turning around and coming back so I can take him other places before our event that afternoon/evening... Quote
+Berta Nick Zoey Posted October 3, 2007 Author Posted October 3, 2007 We will be meeting at McDonalds at 8AM. Lets pray for sun!! Quote
+MtnMutt-ProDuckShins Posted October 4, 2007 Posted October 4, 2007 If I meet you at Mickey'D's", could you place new logs at: GCJDAH - Rainey Creek GCJDAG - Falls 215 GCJDAM - Pole Hole You should have a great adventure even if it is damp outside It's about time to change these logs out and too many things going on. Thanks in advance, MtnMutt Quote
+Berta Nick Zoey Posted October 4, 2007 Author Posted October 4, 2007 I have no problem taking the new logbooks to your caches. I looked and saw that you live in North Bend so it wont be too far out of your way to hook up with us. Quote

From the looks of the forecast this morning, not only is the sun not going to be out, it's gonna be pretty wet...everyone will probably still have a great time. However, I think I'm going to pick up fraggle a little earlier and we're going to go to Tweeds for breakfast...McD's just isn't right for a visitor to the area especially when Tweeds makes such great breakfasts... Anyone want to meet us there instead? Quote
