gunner2
We were out doing some caches today and my 60CSx started acting funny. The arrow was pointing 180* off. The distance was working that is how we were finding caches but the map was also off too. I have enough problems finding caches with a GPSr that is working properly. Anybody ever run into this problem. Quote Link to comment
DocDiTTo
Did you try calibrating your compass? That needs done each time you change the batteries. Might help your problem. If not, perhaps a hard reset might work. To do that, press QUIT + MENU + ZOOM OUT + POWER all at the same time for about 5 seconds (starting with the unit off). All waypoints and tracks will be lost, but maps and Custom POI's stored on the data card will remain. A hard reset will set everything back to factory default. Try the calibration first. +imajeep
I'll second the recommendation to recalibrate the compass. I generally have to recalibrate mine every time I turn it on, or I get the sort of problems you're describing. It's about the only thing I don't like about the unit. Quote Link to comment

YeOleImposter
Thanks for the info. I'll try this tomorrow and let you know what happens. Yea, I usually just hold the page key down until the compass turns off. I have used a Etrex Legend long enough to not need the compass most of the time. Quote Link to comment
gunner2
I calibrated the compass and all seem well. I'll give it a real test this weekend hopefully. I guess I should read the manual once in a while. Thanks for the advise. Quote Link to comment
wesleykey
Electronic compass is quite anal. For a unit this expensive you would think it would not need constant calibration. I now use the Garmin 60Cx without the electronic garbage. The easy fix is to calibrate the compass or turn it off. Quote Link to comment
