Best cheap GPS

What GPS is best for geocaching i have the original yellow garmin etrex and when you get near a cache it behave erratically and has cost me at least one cache

How much do you want to spend and are there any other uses you need from the unit besides geocaching? At a minimum, you'll want a unit that can communicate with your computer.

Explorist 400 for $145 delivered, on eBay. Explorist 500 (color)for $155 to 168 delivered. Or, more basic, the 210 for about $125. The ones I have seen are new.

I picked up an eXplorist 100 at Wal Mart for a close out price of $35. No, it doesn't hook up to your computer and you manually load in coords, but "dang" it works just great. All of the computer tech stuff gets my head spinning, so I'm glad I started with a basic unit. I do plan to upgrade in time, but for now I'm enjoying learning the hobby "one baby step at a time".

what is the difference between the 400 and the 210 ?

The 400 can use an SD card to store maps, POI files, tracks, and routes. The 210 has a fixed 22MB of memory. The other difference is that the 400 uses a lithium ion battery pack whereas the 210 uses AAs.
