+IDLookout Posted August 24, 2007 Posted August 24, 2007 Fixed! If I was on the secret panel, you would be holding a waterproof match in your hand as we speak. Quote
+Airmapper Posted August 24, 2007 Posted August 24, 2007 When a winner of the waterproof match is determined, I have a question for them. You are in a survival situation in a blizzard. You stumble on a cabin. In the cabin are 3 items that need a match to operate, and remember you only have one match. Those items are: A wood stove A lantern A candle What do you light first? Remember you just have the one waterproof match you won in this thread. Quote
+IDLookout Posted August 24, 2007 Posted August 24, 2007 Personally, I'd light the match. The curse of Zork, Zork II, Zork III, etc.... on my old Commodore 64... That logic just sticks with you I guess. Quote

+jtbrady01 Posted August 24, 2007 Posted August 24, 2007 Zork! That's the game I was thinking of the other day. Thanks for jogging my memory. Now, what was this all about again? A match or something? I don't think that can be sent through the mail can it? Quote

I don't think that can be sent through the mail can it? Being such a great prize, i'm thinking that he wouldn't even take a chance of sending it by regular snail mail anyways. Thinking that he will either personally deliver it or have the winner pick it up himself. I'm anxious to enter so hopefully the contest rules, along with the privacy poilicy, and instructions for usage of the match will be posted soon. Quote

That's why I brought up Zork (which is an old word-based Adventure game if you are not familiar). This is the Zork version of your answer (The ">" portions are what you type in): You are in a survival situation in a blizzard. You stumble on a cabin. In the cabin are 3 items that need a match to operate, and remember you only have one match. Those items are: A wood stove A lantern A candle >Light candle What do you want to light the candle with? >Light candle with match You hold the match up to the candle but nothing happens. >Light match What do you want to light the match with? >Light match on floor You scrape the match on the old floorboards. The match flares with light and emits a sulfurous odor. >Light candle. You hold the lit match up to the candle and it begins to burn with a soft radiance. >Light wood stove with candle You are not holding the candle! >Pick up candle Candle taken. >Light wood stove with candle The wood stove is made of steel and will not burn. >Open stove door Opening the door on the wood stove reveals a pile of wood ready for burning. >Light wood in stove with candle You light the dry wood in the stove. Ouch! The lit match you were still holding burned your fingers. You drop it to the floor, where it immediately starts the floorboards on fire. Smoke pours up from the floor and you collapse as your lungs fill with the deadly gasses. You should have blown out the match. **You have died** Your score is 2 out of a possible 100. Quote

I thought they were only used to hold rolled up sheets of paper Needle and thread to sew up open wounds, tightly rolled up toilet paper (don't want it wet when you need to use it). These things really come in handy besides matches. Military ingenuity. Oh! sheets of paper for log books work as well. Just wish people would close them tightly and not loose the o-rings. They have a purpose. Quote
