The Jailbirds Posted August 20, 2007 Posted August 20, 2007 I am going to Reno, Nevada in about three weeks. I want to find geocaches close to where I will be staying at my brother's house. When I put in the zip code it gives me the caches in that area, but I have no idea how far away from my brother's house they are. Is there an easy way to find this out? Thanks again for the help. +StarBrand Posted August 20, 2007 Posted August 20, 2007 on the hide-n-seek a cache page - you can search by address in the top box on the page - that way they will all be close to his address. Quote
Airmapper Posted August 20, 2007 Posted August 20, 2007 (edited) Use coordinates to center your search on, or I think now you can enter an address into the search field and it will center on that. Edit: StarBrand beat me to it. Edited August 20, 2007 by Airmapper Quote
Miragee Posted August 20, 2007 Posted August 20, 2007 You are a Premium Member, so you can set up a Pocket Query for that area. You can also use the Caches Along a Route feature to find caches along any roads you might be traveling outside the area covered by your Reno PQ/PQs. Quote
Ranster Posted August 20, 2007 Posted August 20, 2007 As Miragee said, build a pocket query. Then, if your GPSr supports it, you can enter the generated file directly into your unit. When you are out caching, you can then set your GPSr to locate nearest and there you go. After finding it, you will automatically be sent to your next cache. Of course, this is IF your unit supports downloads. Quote
x_Marks_the_spot Posted August 21, 2007 Posted August 21, 2007 Your can also use Google Earth with the Geocaching plugin. Find your brother's house then you can see which caches are nearby, and, perhaps more importantly, where they are in relation to major landmarks, like major roads and parks and such. Helps me, anyway, because I'm a very visually oriented person. Quote
