Marking caches on E-Trex Legend

I was just given a brand new ETrex Legend, and while playing with it, I stumbled over an option to make a cache as 'found'... but I was never able to find the option again!

How do I do this? And does it do anything special other than change the icon? Can I filter on the GPS to not see them?

Thanks!

When you are navigating to a 'closed cache' icon waypoint, if you cycle through the pages you will find that page again. You are correct that all pressing found does is mark it as found by changing the icon. (It adds a calender entry on my 60CSx but I can't remember if the legend has a calendar). If you go to find waypoints, you can go to the menu and tell it to sort by icon, then select closed geocaches and the one you just 'opened' will not be on the list. Hope that helps you understand the geocaching features of the legend

I cycled through every page I could find, but no luck still.

Well, I know I saw it on there... so can we pretend I have a more advanced model, and list the steps how to get to that screen? I'll have no hair left at this point.

Thanks! :)

Within setup, there is a Geocaching mode setup page. On that page, you choose what icon represents an unfound and found geocache. The default is a closed treasure chest.

Choose find, then "Geocache". This will show all waypoints with that icon. Choose goto for the cache that you want and then change to the navigation screen. The found option will be a button at the bottom of the screen.

I've never used that unit but, if it works like the 76 series, you will only find the option to mark a cache as "found" if you currently have that cache "loaded" as the one you are looking for and then it will only be available on the "arrow screen".

Go to the waypoint and using the joystick highlight the treasure chest icon, click on it and you will see an display of assorted other icons. One of them is Cache Found. Use your joystick to select that one and you're done.

That's the only way I know how to do it with the Legend.

That was it! Thanks, everyone... I'll be quiet now. I was going crazy! :)
