Well, I found a 9-digit number inside the battery compartment but no 8-digit number at all. Is the 9-digit number inside the battery compartment the serial number or am I missing something? Thanks for the help. The 9-digit number in the battery compartment is the serial number. My unit has an 8-digit number, while a friend's unit has a 9-digit. Maybe that model sold better than they had expected? At one point there was a rebate form that required the serial number to be entered into an 8-digit field; new owners were advised to just write the extra digit to the right of the first digits. --Larry Quote Link to comment
