+kwikstix
I hope I'm posting this in the correct forum, since this isn't exactly related to the geocaching.com website, but rather to the forums.Groundspeak.com website. If not please move it. I think it would be really helpful to display a forum poster's Finds count in the little summary about them on the left of their posts. It would possibly help others to discern if the poster really knows what he/she is talking about. I've often seen posts by someone who may have many forum posts, but only actually have a few finds, indicating that they may not actually know what they're talking about. And conversely, I'm sure there are very experienced cachers out there who may have hundreds or thousands of finds, but are just starting to use the forums, or don't post frequently, but who could offer very sage advice. Having the poster's find count would help to discern that. Mike Link to comment

+webscouter.
One of the problems with the concept that lots of finds equals lots of knowledge is that type and location of the find can influence the knowledge gained. Hiding styles vary greatly by the location of the hider. I can attest that finding caches on the west coast is an entirely different game than finding caches on the east coast. BTW I have 2217 finds and many users on the board will attest that I almost never know what I am talking about. Link to comment
+Miragee
It is easy enough, if you don't have a dreadfully-slow dialup connection like I do, to just click on the person's name and go to their Profile to see how many Finds, and Hides, they have. Link to comment
+Prime Suspect
Try the Forums Enhancements greasemonkey script. Among the things it does, it adds a direct link to show the message author's finds and hides. Link to comment
+BlueDeuce
If I'm offering advice in the TB forum it should show how many bugs I own or moved. The coin forum should show the same for coins. The off topic forum should show how many non-geocaching hobbies I have. ooh, the gps forum could list my gps's and the software I own. +Allen_L
The only concern I have is that Groundspeak purchased the forum software and so would either have to pay to software company money to change it, or spend time (and therefore money) digging into it to see how it worked and then spend time changing it. I would prefer that they spend the money and time on improving geocaching.com and not the forum. Link to comment

Having the poster's find count would help to discern that. The only problem with this is that you are under the presumption that all cachers log their finds. I know of at least one cacher in my area in the 1.5K range or higher that shows only about 90 some caches logged. They're more interested in the find then the numbers, so quit logging. Also, sometimes a high count may mean multiple "finds" at single events, etc. While not popular in my area, it is to the north of me. Often someone active in the forums can pick up a lot of knowledge about policies, etc. that someone with a high count but little time in the forums may not have. Common sense, find counts and the forums are not always related. Edited August 10, 2007 by baloo&bd Link to comment

+alexrudd
I think people's opinions should be judged based on their own merit, and not on how many times they've clicked "Add Reply," how many Friend Requests they've sent, or how many boxes they've hidden somewhere. Link to comment

Thats pretty much what I think also. Yea it might be interesting to see that number, but in the end your going to have either research the person or just believe them (or not). Especially when the number of finds is only one number, and not an indicate of what kind(s) of caches they find, the terrain/difficuty rating, the location(s). Link to comment
