ouluckydogu
I kdont know much about miro sd units. When I bought my 60 CSx and city navigator last week I took someones advice from here and bought a 2 gig chip so I could dowload all of CN onto just one micro sd. When I odered the chip I got a non garmin one. the clerk seemed to think I could download to it and me being electronically challenged I did not know any better. The question is will I be able to doownload city navigotor to this chip or do I have to get a garmin chip for some reason . If so where is the cheapest place to get a garmin chip Thanks Lucky Quote Link to comment
+Nachtraaf
you don't need a Garmin chip. Any microSD like Kingston or Sandisk will do it just fine. But I am not sure what the total amount of data is when you are planning to put all CN on one chip...but...is this necessary? If you're planning a trip to the other side of the country, just put that region onto the chip...takes 3 minutes... Greetings, Hans Quote Link to comment
+Hynr
One good reason is that it tends to be something you forget to do when you go on a trip. Do the whole thing once and you never have to bother with it again. Given how cheap these cards are and how annoying it is when you are stuck without maps (I know, I know: ) I would say it is worth doing it this way as long as you have a few meg left over for some POIs. +geospyder
I agree with Hynr. I just ordered the Vista HCx and two 2gig cards. I plan to have one card with all of North America and one card with all of Europe. One load and never have to worry about forgetting maps again. I'm over in Nevada and usually keep the entire state loaded. I do get over to California periodically. I have twice forgotten to load the maps for the area I planned to be in. Davis was one and Napa was the other. Very frustrating. Edited August 6, 2007 by geospyder Quote Link to comment

There is no magic solution .....for not thinking.............Now you can just forget to take the "other" chip not in the unit or forget to take the GPS entirely............ Quote Link to comment
TPKeller
I'm not sure this is a good question, but for those who have all or nearly all the country loaded on their large MicroSD cards, do you ever find the POI database to be so full of data that it becomes cumbersome? I am asking from the perspective of a GPS V, and I know when I have it full of maps, there are always many more data items to sort through when doing a search than if I have only the immediate area loaded in memory. I guess this becomes more apparent in a search by name rather than by nearest. Theron Quote Link to comment
+Hynr
Yes, this is a down-side. Searching POIs by name for a national chain store or restaurant is virtually useless. You are limited to searching with the nearest feature. Quote Link to comment
