CinemaBoxers
Recently, there has been a severe issue around our area with stolen geocoins. While we try to protect our beloved coins as best we can, there are still those who wish to collect coins from caches. Paula and I (well, mostly I) decided to have a geocoin bank in our front yard. Since the cache was published (GC13XEY), not only were the geocoins it held taken, the whole cache (a Large Ammo can) was stolen right from our yard. We (being pretty thick skinned) decided that we will change the coords to a more suitable location (about a 12 foot move, as the bugs crawl) and replace the container. Having said that, I constructed a new 'housing' for the cache and replaced the cache with a new container. Ever since then, we have had visitors, had some psuedo-meetings with other cachers, swapped some stories, etc. Well, to make a long story longer , our neighbor had a rummage sale last weekend and being the dedicated cacher that I am, I had to go look for some unique containers for the price of... well... a rummage sale! What I found was a skippy jar chock full o' wooden tokens that are 1.5" across and 3mm thick. About half are red colored wood, and the other half are straight wood color. Since Paula is not a fan of making copies of coins and sticking them on these things, I am asking for some help. You all seem to be intelligent folks and some of you are even pretty creative. So, what do you do when you have a little over 50 of these? Do you carve on them and make some sort of siggy item? Please let me know what you would do. Paula said she'd put some sort of sticky label on them and set them free... I'm looking to you for something a little bit more original - the whole 'sticker' thing has been done. What do ya think? Ahhh... the possibilities ~J Quote Link to comment

+jAY miLLS
I introduce those wooden nickels to the rubber stamps I have for such items. Paw on one side, jAY miLLS Milwaukee 2007 on the other. Speaking of which . . . .I need to make a trip to the craft store tomorrow for more. Thaks for reminding me. Quote Link to comment

+GPX Navigators
I'd have Paula draw on them. Anything she likes - freedom of artistic expression. No two alike. Quite unique. Caching name & year on the other side. Quote Link to comment

+wsgaskins
But, seriously... Why not take one of your cool design coins (pick one... any of your coins would do!!), have it mounted to a metal stake and use it like a branding iron to make "inverse" wooden tokens by burning the design into the wood? The first heating cycle with a hand torch would remove all the epoxy colored spots, I'm sure. Quote Link to comment

CinemaBoxers
Travel bug Idea, maybe? Have to have a TB tag. You could drill a hole in all of them and lash them together with some leather strapping. Put a cachers name on each of the nickels and set it free with a mission to visit anyone of the cachers named on the nickels, and when it makes it to one of them, they have to post a photo with it, and then they get to keep their nickel. Maybe it's too late in the day for me to be thinking about this. EXCELLENT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This is SOOO it! We want a photo with the bug AND an 'autograph' on each of them!!!!! VERY EXCELLENT IDEA! ... and I have the tag to make it happen! Whoo Hoo! Quote Link to comment
