+bluedepth Posted July 23, 2007 Posted July 23, 2007 Would it be possible to add to the watchlist actual friends or other users so you can be email-alerted when they log finds? I've got a new friend who lives in the next city over and when he hits the local caches I get alerted, but when he hits caches elsewhere, I don't. It would be nice to know in order to 'keep up with the Jones's' Thanks!

+trainlove Posted July 23, 2007 Posted July 23, 2007 In your profile, add a friend. http://www.geocaching.com/my/myfriends.aspx I think that's the interntion of the My Friends list but as implemented you don't get any emails when they find caches. If that ever happens I hope that the email sender or subject line has something keyable so as to filter them into a separate email folder.

I would hate to get an email for each log each of "My Friends" logs! Now, maybe a daily or weekly digest either for each friend or one list for all of them - that I could handle!
+bluedepth Posted August 3, 2007 Author Posted August 3, 2007 In your profile, add a friend. http://www.geocaching.com/my/myfriends.aspx I've added the friends I wish to get email alerts in regards to, but no emails come when they log finds. Since I don't see any options in regards to email processing, such as "Email me when this friend finds a cache" I have only to assume that you can't do this.

+kwikstix Posted August 7, 2007 Posted August 7, 2007 I'd definitely be interested in this feature. Not globally for all friends, but it should allow you to select which friends to receive notifications from. What would be REALLY cool would be if you could also add other filter criteria, such as only send notifications if this particular friend logs a cache that is within x number of miles of my home coordinates, etc.
+ReadyOrNot Posted August 7, 2007 Posted August 7, 2007 (edited) It would be neat to see some kind of combined list of finds. Would make group caching interesting... Not all inclusive, but only where they overlap, ie: Team Finds, etc. and you could pick who was in your team. And to take it a step further, if I was going caching with Cacher A, Cacher B and Cacher C, as a team, we would only want to hunt caches that none of us had found. Edited August 7, 2007 by ReadyOrNot
wwflover13 Posted August 7, 2007 Posted August 7, 2007 I'd really like to be able to get e-mail notifications when specific people place caches, in addition to when specific people find caches.
+rgbgal Posted August 18, 2007 Posted August 18, 2007 (edited) I would also LOVE this added to the options. My sister and I keep up with eachother as well as watching the "secret" cachers movements (coin search ya know). Is this in the works??? Edited August 18, 2007 by rgbgal
