+ArtieD Posted July 22, 2007 Posted July 22, 2007 (edited) I am baffled...coinfused...and just a little worried...in a good way. Yesterday evening, I got a padded envelope. This envelope was a plain padded mailer, one of which virtually any geocoin addict knows and loves dearly. Besides the simple address of mine, it had a postmark. I couldn't quite make out the town, though, although it did say Arkansas. The return address simply said "A Friend." In it was a coin that still has me laughing. I cannot convey the amount of hilarity it has brought me. Thing is, per the rule card that came with it, I cannot post a complete picture of the coin, so I will post a couple partial pics. It also asks that I do not trade or sell it. Edited July 22, 2007 by Arthur & Trillian

+ChadsClan Posted July 23, 2007 Posted July 23, 2007 I must have skipped school the day binary was taught. Looks like I may have to brush up on it for this one. Aren't there other coins with binary on them? Brian and Jake of Team A.I. have some binary on their coin, I believe.

+islander1988 Posted July 23, 2007 Posted July 23, 2007 (edited) Do the people that get these mystery coins every find out who they came from? I've gotten a couple of mystery coins, and still have yet to find out who they're from. Same here. I have 2 now, but don't know for sure who's behind them. I think I got a hint at one of them though at GW5. Edited July 23, 2007 by islander1988

Have loads of fun with your new coin!! ps. Get the book "Codes, Ciphers and other Cryptic and Clandestine Communication" by Fred. B. Wrixon. TrsrHuntr You never know with these things, but I suspect many of these secret givers either do trades, or sell coins or something of that nature. You'd have lots of addresses doing either of those. I've done some trades and bought coins so I'm hoping my address is floating on these mystery winds too!
+Crowesfeat30 Posted July 23, 2007 Posted July 23, 2007 *snip* ps. Get the book "Codes, Ciphers and other Cryptic and Clandestine Communication" by Fred. B. Wrixon. TrsrHuntr Got it for my B/F for his B-Day last year... CF30
ParentsofSAM Posted July 23, 2007 Posted July 23, 2007 Congrats AT! Once someone taught or attempted to teach me how to count in binary and I never did get it... Oh well the numbers 2-9 would be lonely if we only used binary....lol I can't wait to figure out the funny behind this coin and see the full coin.
TokyoBlossom Posted July 23, 2007 Posted July 23, 2007 Congratulations Arthur & Trillian! This one intrigues me. And the only thing more fun than counting in binary, counting in hexadecimal!
+zazth Posted July 23, 2007 Posted July 23, 2007 I somehow seem to either miss all the cointests all together or come in at the very end. Miss all the mystery coins too.
+fairyhoney Posted July 23, 2007 Posted July 23, 2007 I must come from the "old school" cuz I haven't a clue to binary!! The blue coloring is terrific, though!
+ArtieD Posted July 23, 2007 Author Posted July 23, 2007 This coin should just be called, "The Coin's For You."
+wyohunter Posted July 24, 2007 Posted July 24, 2007 This coin should just be called, "The Coin's For You." How about "The Binary coin"?

+hybridgeek Posted July 24, 2007 Posted July 24, 2007 Sweet! A coin with binary! w00t!! That's a first from what I've seen. We could use some more technology/computer oriented coins... hehe. After all, without the wonderful binary language, we wouldn't have GPS units, computers, or any other digital electronics! Looks cool! -hybridgeek

It also asks that I do not trade or sell it. Well, from my previous experiences before geocaching, I can tell you that there are such things as "anonymous re-mailers" out there. The original sender mails the item to a PO Box along with the postage to send it off to the final location. Then the Mail Drop Operator (aka Droperator) removes the item from the outside envelope and drops it in the mail from their local post office. We used to get letters from "Blue Ridge Summit, PA" all of the time...
+GeekBoy.from.Illinois Posted July 25, 2007 Posted July 25, 2007 Do I see "... coin dedicated to the ...." ? I'm not sure, to me it kinda looks like " ... coin dedicated to tho..." although I could be wrong, it certainly wouldn't be the first time.
+rivercity Posted July 25, 2007 Posted July 25, 2007 A mysterious envelope from somewhere, a mysterious note, and an awesome coin! WOOHOO! It's THE Mystery Coin! Thank you so much! What a privilege to receive this coin. Here's just a small picture so the surprise isn't spoiled for the next lucky recipient. Now, don't offer any FSMs in trade for this beauty! It's not to be traded. It's all mine! I just love a good Mystery! THANK YOU!
