$200 Dollars to Spend

Hi,

New to GPSr and geocaching. Looking to buy a unit for geocaching. Have $200 CDN dollars. Have looked at both magellan and garmin. Seems both companies have supporters.

Any ideas?

The new Garmin HCx versions are just being shipped from Garmin, so that means the Venture Cx, which has been selling for $180 might be dropping in price. Also, the Legend C and Vista C, which were discontinued last year, are excellent units and can be purchased on eBay for well under $200.00, which gives you some money left over to put towards mapping software.

 

I recommend you get a GPSr that connects with USB instead of with a Serial cable, and although there are examples of good Magellan support, Garmin is noted for consistently-excellent Customer Service.
