+TrailGators
I thought the purpose of this thread was to filter out things that really don't belong in caches because they are "offensive or generally inappropriate." Then somehow we got diverted into removing things that some people don't like but are not offensive or generally inappropriate. If we keep heading down that path, eventually we will end up with just a logbook in the cache. So I vote that we put everything back that is not "offensive or generally inappropriate" and see where this goes... Quote Link to comment

Mine of course! Let people vote them back. I'll start with the golf ball because I really don't think a golf ball is "inappropriate." People that don't golf won't like it, but they don't have to trade for it. Edited July 21, 2007 by TrailGators Quote Link to comment

I strongly support the concept that we (or at least I, due to my being a Platinum Member!) be allowed to vote to put items back on the list. I will start: I vote that we place "polonium and other highly radioactive materials" back on the list. Oh, and by the way, have you added "travel bugs" to the list yet as a "votable" item? Thanks! +Mudfrog
Uh . . . I requested the out of date software to be removed here. I think I would also remove: software sent free to you in the mail But, but,,, My favorite thing to leave in a cache is those new fangled, hard to find, AOL startup discs. I thought everyone loved finding those in caches! Can we pick more than one item? If so, let's get rid of the disabled lighter. Quote Link to comment

+flask
DIRECTIONS (again. why not? it keeps people current and it's not hard to do.) -read the list. -decide which single item seems to you to be the most inappropriate. -post the one item to this thread. please do not editorialize; there are at least two open threads where people are editorializing. if you feel that i've missed some common or worrisome cache contents, please feel free to send me a message and i'll add it to the list. my list is by no means exhaustive and if you have in mind items that are either appropriate or inappropriate, they should be included. if you feel an item is offensive to you and you don't want to be publicly identified, you may contact me and i'll post your entry anonymously. it is my hope that the most worrisome or offensive items will leave the list first. Neos2
I didn't notice this item before . . . haimar zubeldia You know, it just occurred to me ---Adding things after the elimination process has begun totally invalidates the experiment, and certainly won't ever produce anything like a "generic OK to put in a cache" list. There may be things added to the list later that would have been much higher priority for removal than the item someone originally choose. Of course, it was invalid anyway, since people got to see what others took off and then choose "the next thing" they would remove; that ability to see the trend colored choices people made. There are/were things on that list I've never seen or heard of being put in a cache, and likely never have been put in any cache anywhere. So the list is too abstract to begin with. --although the taking out and adding in does work the same way running across the cache in real life would operate. People add things and take out things there all the time. Maybe you should start this over again and run it like a real cache: Put in X items to stock the cache initially and have people say what they would do with the contents as they got there and saw what was in there. Perhaps limit it to trading two items only and using only things they typically carry with them for swag. It would be much more realistic. Quote Link to comment
+lost-in-montana
add used fishing tackle to take out of cache. Add New In wrapper fishing tackle to keep in cache. Quote Link to comment
Luckless
ok, folks. some of the other threads got me to thinking: if each cacher trashes out what he or she finds offensive or generally inappropriate, what's left in the cache? i do not wish to have a debate here, but simply for you to note which items on the list of cache contents you would remove as inappropriate. as the list dwindles, i'll re-post with the changes . Sounds to me like you are saying to just remove the offensive things. For me it seems even the "offensive" things should be traded out(as much as possible). That way you leave the cache the way you would like to find it. Quote Link to comment
+bumblingbs
I know I've said this before, but one of my caches had a baby nasal aspirator in it. You, know, the thing that sucks baby's nose clean when they have a drippy cold? Can that be on the list? And did you get unwrapped toothbrushes? Quote Link to comment
