+Lotho Posted July 14, 2007 Posted July 14, 2007 (edited) Theres a catch, they dont ship to you, only drop it in a cache, so useless for anybody who doesnt live near them, unless you want the geocoin to travel around near them.. Edited July 14, 2007 by Lotho Quote
ParentsofSAM Posted July 14, 2007 Posted July 14, 2007 It still is a really good deal for a traveler. You get to activate the coin and own it and it will travel around. You can get it just make the goal of the coin to travel to you and hopefully it will make over and you can have it. Quote
+Damenace Posted July 14, 2007 Posted July 14, 2007 Not sure I dare attempt this again after what happened to the first coin ! Quote
+57chevy Posted July 14, 2007 Posted July 14, 2007 Snagged one. Thanks Todd, I'll try to think of a good mission for it. Quote

Why the negativity? I did the first mission and my coin has traveled over 3170 miles and is now only 381.3 miles away. Watching this coin get closer has been fun and well worth the low cost they were sold at so useless, hardly! Besides it just means more coins in caches and there is nothing wrong with that. Order sent! Jake Quote

I like the idea. I was going to do it till I realized it wasn't a coin but rather a tag. If someone does it with a coin i would be in for it. Quote

But if you want to purchase a GC.com trackable coin or tag to travel this is the cheapest way I know. Unless you want to spend 100s of dollar minting your own. In may of 2006 we launched the first Operation spreading Sunshine and we sold 79 coins Quote

+SunshineGang Posted July 16, 2007 Author Posted July 16, 2007 (edited) that's right some of the 79 coins we released last year traveled 1000s of miles and reach thier owners and some went missing in the very first cache I placed them in. I guess big advantage to buying one of these coins is if it goes missing it may very well be the cheapest GC.com trackable coin you ever lose, and of course there is the sense of adventure and the possiblity that it just might show up in a cache near you.
