cedarfluteman Posted July 13, 2007 Posted July 13, 2007 With a map 60scx how does the geocache get loaded into the gps from the geocaching website? Do you need the software that came with the GPS or something different? Or maybe 2 programs? Please let me know how this works. Thanks Quote
+Miragee Posted July 13, 2007 Posted July 13, 2007 There is a variety of software available. Many people start out using EasyGPS. That is what I started with. Then I became a Premium Member so I could create Pocket Queries. Those are files that are sent to your email InBox and contain details for as many as 500 caches. Quote

So with EasyGPS do you still need to load the cd that comes with the Garmin or not? Quote
BKDotCom Posted July 13, 2007 Posted July 13, 2007 So with EasyGPS do you still need to load the cd that comes with the Garmin or not? If your GPS connects via USB then you just need the driver so that you computer recognizes it as a GPS. It would be found on the CD. Of course it can also be found on garmin.com. My GPS unit didn't even come with a CD. Quote

But when I get on Geocaching.com and check the box and select download that's all I get is a message stating ( Garmin Communicator Plugin Not Detected) So what do I do from here? Quote

Go to the Garmin Geocaching website. On the right side of the page under "Geocaching links", click on the "myGarmin Geocaching" link. You will have to create a myGarmin account but it's free and after doing so will allow you to download the Communicator Plugin. Quote

The GPS does put the waypoints from the GPS into the mapsource. So it is communicating thus far. Quote
+Nachtraaf Posted July 13, 2007 Posted July 13, 2007 Hi Cedarflutman, To use the "send to gps" button on the detail cache page, you'll need this plugin. After installation this button enables you to send the info directly to your gps. In a gpsmap60csx you can find it as follows: hit "find", select "custom waypoints". I have posted an article on putting geocaches in bulk to your gpsmap60csx. It is using pocket queries (Premium membership required), gsak and garmin's poiloader. Good luck with it! Greetings, Hans Quote
