downloading waypoints to my palm polit Z22

Could anybody give me step by step inst. on downloading way point and clues to my new palm pilot. I down loaded easy GPS,Plucker and Sonar and still can't figure out how to get them.I'm new with the Palm pilot also.

Perhaps a Moderator will move this over to the GPS and Sofware Forum where the "experts" hang out. I'm not familiar with those programs. I use the GSAK (Geocaching Swiss Army Knife)/Cachemate combination. An Export from GSAK in the correct format for the Palm (.pdb) prepares the file for installation on the Palm at the next HotSync. It works very well, although GSAK has a fairly-steep learning curve.

Your first problem is GPX Sonar is for Pocket PCs, you have a Palm Pilot.

There are two main methods used to get cache information.

One is the use of CacheMate. CacheMate is known for being the quicker method to get the information onto your Palm.

The Other is the use of GPX Spinner and Plucker.

 

The two most helpful guides I have found to date are:

What GPS do you have? Do you have a cable that hooks your GPSr to your computer? If so Easy GPS will help you get coordinate information onto your GPS.

Ok, I have an e-Trex Vista Hcx that has a geo-cach mode. I can download co-ords, cache name, etc; from my computer to my GPS. If I have Cachemate for my Palm Z22; what do I need GSAK for?

GSAK is extremely useful is you live in a "cache-rich" area where you need its filtering capabilities. It is also very useful if you travel. You can create different databases for different locations. It can be daunting at first, at least it sure was for me, but now I cannot imagine caching without it, especially now that I have figured out how to use the GSAK in conjunction with the Garmin POI Loader to put thousands of caches and benchmarks on the card in my Vista HCx as POIs.

 

Using GSAK you can also give the waypoints useful names. I use its "Smart Name" feature to get a waypoint name for each cache that gives me part of the Name, the Size of the container, the Type of cache (Traditional, Multi, Virtual, Puzzle), the Difficulty and Terrain (based on a 10-point scale). I can also put the Hint on my GPSr using GSAK. Sometimes I don't even need to get out my Palm anymore, except to record the find and my trades in Cachemate.
