+Damenace Posted July 10, 2007 Posted July 10, 2007 I have participated in many of these coin exchanges and thought it was time for me to work on orchestrating one of my own. I know there are plenty of these planned in the coming months with all the holidays around the corner. I do not want to step on the toes of those who have plans. My question is when will the other exchanges be held? I am not concerned about it being Holiday related even though X-Mas would be best. Alright my plans.....................................(drum roll) The White Elephant Exchange!!!! No I am not starting this right now rather trying to determine a good time to do it. More details to come as they get worked out Quote
+Kealia Posted July 10, 2007 Posted July 10, 2007 LOL - I have a White Elephant cache and think this would be hilarious. Quote
+GEO*Trailblazer 1 Posted July 10, 2007 Posted July 10, 2007 I'm In for a White Elephant tale......... Quote
+Damenace Posted July 10, 2007 Author Posted July 10, 2007 I don't get it....? White Elephant Gift Exchange Quote
+PengoFamily Posted July 10, 2007 Posted July 10, 2007 That sounds like it could be lots of fun and also take a while to play. Quote
TokyoBlossom Posted July 10, 2007 Posted July 10, 2007 How would that work? All I can say is the post office might be the biggest beneficiary! Quote
ParentsofSAM Posted July 10, 2007 Posted July 10, 2007 HA! Every year we do a White Elephant at Christmas time...it is pretty funny! There is a 30 year old can of boiled peanuts that makes an appearance every year and it keeps getting re-gifted. You never know who is bringing it because often time the person who got it last Christmas has mailed it away during the year...lol Quote
+OshnDoc Posted July 10, 2007 Posted July 10, 2007 Now how is determening the order of the participants? "I am on first, who is on second etc, no I you are on third ??????" Besides that it sounds like fun The post office will definitely like this game Quote
+Damenace Posted July 11, 2007 Author Posted July 11, 2007 This mission will not be any different in terms of requirements, it is merely the name that will be fun. We will be exchanging coins just like everyone else. We will not be exchanging gifts per say!! There may be a limited White Elephant coin available to purchase for those who participate . I am in hte process of getting all my ducks elephants in a row. I am still waiting to see a response concerning the time frame for these other missions before I initially launch this one so please do not send requests at this time. In fact I will be opening up a new thread when the time is right. Quote
+Cog&Gil Posted July 11, 2007 Posted July 11, 2007 Sounds like fun to us--Bring on the White Elephant Exchange. Quote

+Traderdell Posted July 11, 2007 Posted July 11, 2007 How about a Winter solstice mission run between Thanksgiving and Christmas? That would also give you time to get that limited White Elephant coin made. Quote

+Team chelmo Posted July 11, 2007 Posted July 11, 2007 Do we need an excuse for another secret mission? HECK NO! The White Elephant mission sounds like fun to me, (I wonder how much it costs to send a white elephat from NZ Oh, hang on we don't have elephants down here ) Quote
+Solan109 Posted July 11, 2007 Posted July 11, 2007 The White Elephant game, never heard of it so I had to google for it and sounds like fun :-) Quote
+Hr og Fru Danmark Posted July 11, 2007 Posted July 11, 2007 We have something like that in Denmark too - "Pakkeleg" We use dices, a pair of 6' gives a present, that can be 'stoolen' after a decided time. It's a funny little game, usually entertainment rather than gain (Had to goolge for it too) Quote
+PSU Fan Posted July 11, 2007 Posted July 11, 2007 My family has done White Elephant swaps for years, but living in New England they were called "Yankee Gift Swaps". I look forward this one in November. Quote
+DresselDragons Posted July 11, 2007 Posted July 11, 2007 Hubby's office always does a white elephant exchange at the Christmas party. He's gotten lucky the last couple of years, and got to "steal" some good gifts. Quote

It's a funny little game, usually entertainment rather than gain (Had to goolge for it too) This sounds a lot like a "Steal From Your Neighbour" type game played at parties here in the USA. This idea sounds like fun, Damenace. I definatly think you should host it. CF30 Quote
+GEO*Trailblazer 1 Posted July 12, 2007 Posted July 12, 2007 We use to play a game like it too. Really sounds fun and you will have to be creative, which you are. Ours went something like this......... Everyone had a package upon arrival at one place. All were placed in one pile. All names were placed in a hat. The drawing starts. 1st name drawn has a choice to choose or pass. 2nd name drawn has to choose and open package. Now this is where it gets fun...............the 1st person has the choice Ah to complicated for a coin game. Quote
