lewis82 Posted July 5, 2007 Posted July 5, 2007 I was just wondering, as I'm about to publish my first multi-cache very soon, which container's size was indicated in the cache page. I suppose it's the last one, but we never know. Right now my cache has two micros for the first stages and a regular for the last one. So what should I write? Micro or regular? Quote
CoyoteRed Posted July 5, 2007 Posted July 5, 2007 I've always seen the cache size listed detailing the last stage. ...or "unknown" is an option if you don't want to say. Quote
+Knight2000 Posted July 5, 2007 Posted July 5, 2007 (edited) Unless i am confused the first two micros really aren't caches as they don't contain log books. So you would use the last stage of the cache which contains the log book. Edited July 5, 2007 by knight2000 Quote

On most of my multis I will mention the size of the interim stages either in the text or in the hint so searchers have an idea as to what they are looking for. Quote

On the page I'll give hints for the first stage, in the first stage I'll give hints for the second and so on. Thanks a lot for answering! Quote
+Team Crime Scene Posted July 5, 2007 Posted July 5, 2007 I like the hints for the sizes on stages. Especially if your four miles deep into the swamp.... Quote
Clan Riffster Posted July 5, 2007 Posted July 5, 2007 Something else I'd recommend, which is just my personal preference, is to list the number of stages, and the total length of the hike, in your write up. When I'm considering searching for a multi on a hot day, I like to know what I'm getting myself in for. If that info is left out of the cache page, I usually pass by, and hunt something else. It need not be an elaborate description, something along the lines of, "This is a three stage multi with two micros leading to an ammo can. Total hike is about 2 miles". Quote
+Knight2000 Posted July 5, 2007 Posted July 5, 2007 I like the hints for the sizes on stages. Especially if your four miles deep into the swamp.... Good idea. Just dont make it my least favorite hint: If you're ready to go back for the third time email me. That hint pretty much irritates me really badly. I have no problem if you dont want to give me a hint, but that is just nuts. Quote
+flask Posted July 7, 2007 Posted July 7, 2007 sometimes i decline to mention the cache size. i'd grown sick of knowing all the time what i was looking for by the size listed. so i kind of branched out (wanting to share the benefit of my own frustration with everyone else) and started using offbeat containers. i like to keep people guessing. the key thing is that if i'm not going to say what size, i decline to say what size. i don't say it's one thing and use another. i may not tell you how many stages there are, either. i have a long complex multi (http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_details.aspx?guid=3309f8c3-7dbd-4544-b06f-629b924a1d07) that is listed as such. by "long and complex", i mean you should plan to spend a week and a half at it, if you don't do anything else. if you're working piecemeal, you should expect to take several months. what i'm saying is that you don't have to spell things out. you should, however, let people know if it's going to be hard. you may wish to identify the size of the initial stages. if you do, you can simply put that in the text of the description. +Aiden's Cachers Posted July 7, 2007 Posted July 7, 2007 Sounds like my kind of cache flask!! I use the final as the size, I do not mention the sizes of the other stages. I find this makes some people grumpy. /shrug Quote
