jimsimm
I've only found about a dozen caches and I'd like to hide one. My thought is to hide it on a small island in the bay near our beach house. The only way to get to it is by boat. I usually take a kayak to it but other boats and jet skis can access the island as well. Is this okay? Or will some geocachers be upset with me for not making it more easily accessible? Quote Link to comment
+ODragon
That sounds great and a lot of fun. There are many paddle-to caches in NJ so I say go for it! Just make sure there aren't caches on the island already! Edited June 28, 2007 by ODragon Quote Link to comment

+Aiden's Cachers
Make sure to rate the terrain 5 stars (requires special equipment) Quote Link to comment
+lacazg
There are at least two caches in my area that require boats in my area that I can think of. I think its a good idea, it frustrates me, but its a good idea. Quote Link to comment

+briansnat
First make sure the island isn't private property. If it is you will need the permission of the owner. Second, I know some of those islands get swamped during storms. Finally, boaters visit them fairly frequently. So you want to make sure the cache is in a waterproof container, won't get washed away and won't be accidentally be discovered by non geocaches. Quote Link to comment
+simpjkee
do it, heck yeah. If anything, you'll prompt me to want to buy a kayak. And how could that be bad. Quote Link to comment
+wayfarer222
I've done caches on islands, getting to all of them via boat. I thought they were great! It was fun to go someplace I might not have gone before and there's also a fun feel of doing a cache that requires travel like boating. Chris Quote Link to comment

Excellent Idea. I'm planning a camping trip and I'm bringing my boat next time for the cache on the island in that spot. Harder to me just makes them more desireable. Quote Link to comment
