Garmen bought in US will work in EU?

I am going to Switzerland and Italy, and was wondering if I have to do anything special in order to do some Caching there? Do I have to load EU maps or does it just work from the Satellite?

It will work over there. It will take a while for the GPSr to find itself, if you haven't been able to use it on your flights over.

The G in GPS stands for "Global" . But your basemap will be limited to non-existant. Garmin loads a North American basemap on its US mapping units, and a European basemap on its EU units. They are loaded onto unwritable (or at least non-user addressable) memory in the unit and cant be changed.

I am from AZ and I have brought my GPS to Europe a few times. If you can try to sit by the window and record a track for your entire flight. it's really cool to veiw it in google earth.

It will work just fine where ever you are in the world, as long as you can pick up satelites. My Legend has been to Europe, the Middle East and Japan and never had an issue. While you do not say what model you have, I think it would be nice to have some basic maps on my GPS while I travel. I picked up Roads and Recreation for Europe V4 on EBay for about $25.00.
