Paperless Geocaching Problem

Recommended Posts

Posted

I'm using GSAK to import my "pocket query" and then export to my Palm OS 3.? Handspring using Cachmate.

The dada seem to get through and is accesable, howver, when I tap on Sort by Wpt the data is displayed not by the GCxxxx but by the cache name and in some as yet undetermined sort.

Anybody have a clue?

The caches are sorted by waypoint (GCXXXX), but they are listed by name. Makes sense to me, as the waypoint doesn't mean anything to me, where the cache name does.

I have a Magellan Explorist 100 so I need the short wtp as the name if I enter more than one into the unit. I can see an upgrade to a sync-able GPSr someday but for now I'm trying to use what I have.

In CacheMate, if you tap "Option" then "List Preferences" you can choose to display by waypoint OR by name, and you can also select to display by name even when sorted by waypoint. At the bottom of the main screen, you can tap to sort by name or waypoint.

The combination of these should let you sort and display how you want to.

Since it sounds like you want the waypoints displayed by waypoint name when you sort it that way, just go to "option" "list preferences" and uncheck "When sorted by waypoint".

Thanks! I just ran into this problem and had submitted it to CacheMate TS this moring.

I use Google Earth to provide an overview aerial photo of a cache area on my Palm. Basically, I take a screen shot of Google Earth with the cache markers, save it as a JPG, and load that onto my Palm using Splash Photo. Works like a champ, but the cache markers show waypoint IDs, rather than cache titles. So the 'display by waypioint' option in CacheMate is very helpful!
