mr_candyman
Is there any way to use the GPX files from your palm device directly without needing a PC to transfer files over? I'm looking at getting hte palm tx, but it will be a makeshift laptop replacement as mine is about to meet an untimely death soon. I guess I'd need a program sort of like GSAK that can just import them directly. Quote Link to comment
Renegade Knight
As I understand it, Cachemate will do this. Quote Link to comment
mr_candyman
I don't think so as this page: http://www.smittyware.com/palm/cachemate/tools.php lists the programs used to do the tasks in cachemate and it seems they need to be converted into a different format for cachemate Quote Link to comment
Renegade Knight
According to this page it appears you can import them directly. http://www.smittyware.com/palm/cachemate/ However an actual user will come along soon enough and clarity. A lot of folks like using GSAK to export GPX files but...I'm not sure it's required. Just a way to filter for caches they like. Quote Link to comment
NightPilot
The TX has a browser, so you can save the web pages directly. You can also save the pocket queries with your email, and open them with any of several .zip file utilities, and should be able to read the .gpx files in the browser. It won't look very good, and won't really be useful, but you can do it. The .gpx files aren't meant to be used directly, so you'll still need some other programs to make them really useful. +Miragee
The Tx has WiFi, so it comes with a browser. You can view the cache pages as they are. As for getting the cache information to your GPSr from your Tx . . . I think you are going to need a laptop for GSAK to take care of that task, and to Export in the correct .pdb format for Cachemate. +mr_candyman
I think Pathaway will let me transfer the coordinates to my gpsr. Still it wouldn't be much effort to enter them in manually on the gpsr. Unfortunately I don't know how to program for palm (and probably won't have the time to learn) or I would just make a program like GSAK for palm os... Quote Link to comment
imajeep
I don't think you can transfer GPX files directly to the Palm OS. There is a conversion that needs to be done to the Pal OS database format. CacheMate does this conversion. Quote Link to comment
NightPilot
With a TX you don't have to convert. You can store anything on the SD card or on the NVFS volume. Quote Link to comment
