+The Walkabouts
Personally I think that the bidding should be cancelled now until it's sorted out, as right now it's just driving up the price. If it all works out and he/she is legit, then they can always bid again. As for the metals, I believe C&P had them listed as Antique Silver and Antique Gold, I think people are just calling it bronze cuz that's what it looks like sorta. They were actually listed as "Antique Silver" and "Bronze" on C&P Quote Link to comment
+chief20r2
Latest update: There will be at least two versions (metals) of this coin made available: Antique Silver Antique Gold Both will be Regular Editions. Quote Link to comment
+Hula Bum
Hmm then, I dunno! Bronze and gold antique look pretty much the same to me, so I guess I'm of no help! I knew I saw gold somewhere, thanks chief! Quote Link to comment

It's gone on long enough. One of them is up to $47 with almost 3 days left! I'm sure your REAL buyers would like to get a better idea of what they'll really be paying for this coin. +LadeBear68
This is what I mean. People are raising the bids on these for "investigation purposes" or to see what will happen. It is only fair that someone win the auction with legitimate bids. Edited July 27, 2007 by LadeBear68 Quote Link to comment

They were actually listed as "Antique Silver" and "Bronze" on C&P Yes - thats what they were listed on C&P as, and I remember FSM saying that one of the metals he was putting up for auction on ebay was not one of the standard metals - which would suggest it is the Antique Gold. Does this therefore mean some of the non-FSM/mausion listings are incorrect? (Which is the point I was hoping to make, or have clarified). Quote Link to comment

Flying Spaghetti Monster
For clarification, there were 3 metals made: Antique silver (for sales) Antique gold/bronze (for sale) Antique copper (mine) Anything listed on eBay as either gold or bronze is the same metal. The copper version are the ones that I will use as special "gifts". I'm working on the eBay thing - as somebody else said PLEASE do not bid on these just for the sake of seeing what happens. Those that really want one shouldn't have to pay extra for that. Thanks. Quote Link to comment

+nicolo
After a less than revealing email from the bidder, I'm not convinced that it's a legit account. It seems odd that there is no GC account to tie to and the eBay account is brand new. Let's be clear, if somebody want to bid on all of them, more power to you. Good luck getting them all. I'm not convinced however that this is a legit bid. So, because that person saw the original post and made contact via eBay referencing it, I'm hoping that they see this as well. Please get in contact with me to verify your account here. While it's not required to buy a coin, it will help me feel at ease that somebody is not just inflating the prices. I will NOT reveal your identity, nor do I care if you wish to purchase them all. It's your money If I don't hear back by 12:00 tomorrow (when I'm going to be offline for day or so) I'm inclined to delete the bids. I realize this may upset one bidder, but given my hesitation on this, I have to go with my gut on this one. I had overbid him/her on one of your coins, just to see the response. About 10 minutes later I was outbid. Looks like FSM canceled grizzlycan's and others bids and I'm the current high bidder again. Oh well, not a biggie, if I win the money's going to the right person. +Allanon
UPDATE: snip Since I seem to have under-estimated the demand for these, I am currently exploring doing a run in a new metal, with unlimited quantities. snip I am working with C&P to get a sample in black satin nickel. snip Ordering would be open for 1 week. At the end of the week, the number ordered would be the number made. Invoices would be sent out, and the coins would be minted. snip I've been staying away from this thread since Tuesday, so I almost missed this... I say COOL! I love that finish and I like this idea. At this point I see that it's just 'exploring the idea', but if it happens...please, please, please...I'll be ordering at least a few of them. Thanks FSM!!! Quote Link to comment

+rasj & Stacey
I checked 3 of the 6 coins that I bought, and each had at least one eye squished. I sent C&P and email asking for details such as what kind of ashesive was used, etc etc. I plan to goto a craft store today and buy some googly eyes to replace the eyes on my coins. Those things are pretty easy to squish though. Quote Link to comment
+CoinsAndPins
We are very sorry some of the eyes are being squished in shipment. We already have a plan in place to try to prevent this issue on the next batch. Thank you. Quote Link to comment

As long as I know who you are there is no issue. Just getting back online and caught up. Congrats to those of you who received the special winking FSM coins!! All kidding aside, sorry to hear that the post office "damaged" a few of them. I think the cheapest thing to do is to grab a few extra googly eyes from the craft store to repair them. I'm glad to see that folks are taking this in stride. I know I've sent out a few of the copper versions myself and have been lucky that they have arrived safely (so far). Quote Link to comment
+forthferalz
Wow- yes it is nice to know that folks are taking mashed eyes in their stride. Aside from that I don't think it is entirely post office fault - rather the retail packaging method of just chucking them all in a bag. If you order say 5 coins they are all in a heap by the time they get down under. Which is a worry as the mail is all sent through big rollers. I have bought other geocoins and coins from specialist numismatists which are shipped in a special peel and stick corrugated cardboard. This is their standard shipping as some of the ancient coins are thin and made of very soft metal. Particularly with the german coins shipped in a flimsy ziplock rather than a vinyl pouch you could tell the coins were under considerable pressure because the ziplocks are all shot to pieces. Very large shipments of 20 will have half the vinyl bags split. Pins in particular should really have a separate bit of bubble or paper wrap ( just a square of plain copy paper is sufficient to stop it tearing through) All my trade coins and those shipped by individuals have been beautifully packaged in an extraordinary variety of ways. I think clingwrap works pretty well because the cling keeps it from sliding inside a padded bag and adds a soft layer is you wrap it a few times for almost no weight and it's quick. Flying Spaghetti Monster
For anybody that has issues with the eyes: Let me know and I'll go find some extra eyes at the store and send them off to you. Really I will. I think sending the coin back to have them fixed is a waste of paper (mailers, wrapping, etc.) and postage but I will gladly send eyes to anybody who needs them, can't find them, etc. On another note, is anybody planning to release theirs? Quote Link to comment
+Mr.Explorer3
Yes, I plan to release the one I have not traded, my silver LE winking FSM. I have a hard time holding any geocoins hostage. I release my coins for others to find but it is amazing how few are out there for me to find in my area. LOL Edited July 30, 2007 by Mr.Explorer3 Quote Link to comment
+keewee
I am seriously thinking about releasing one, but I need to see if I have one left to release after I make all the trades I've promised to those who missed out on them in the initial sale. It would be really, really cool to see some of these 'in the wild'. Quote Link to comment
+rasj & Stacey
I bought a 300 pack of eyes... (it's all that I could find) so I will have some spares as well. Just PM or email me and I'll gladly ship you one or 10. What else am I gonna do with these things? I have already contemplated adding eyes to my other coins... hehehe ETA: The eyes haven't arrived yet, as I just bought them yesterday (online). When they arrive, If they are the same as the original I will gladly mail them to anyone that needs them. Edited July 30, 2007 by rasj Quote Link to comment

Flying Spaghetti Monster
Now that things have slowed down I've had a chance to really read through this thread in detail to get caught up. Rasj, your posts have been consistently amusing (as well as the new avatar) and level headed. When issues have come up like the squished eyes, you took a positive step instead of just complaing. You even took it a step further and offered to send people extra eyes. Thank you for being such a good community member and for helping to keep this thread sane at hectic times. For that, I'd like to send you a little something. Please contact me via PM or Email so I can get your address. To all, I'm thinking about a contest for the upcoming black versions, so stay tuned.
