+Gefaell's Posted June 8, 2007 Posted June 8, 2007 (edited) Hi, There are probably many threads on here asking this question, but to save me scrolling through them all, I thought Id be lazy and ask the question myself. We currently geo-cache using a PDA with Tom Tom and download coordinates using POI edit. The GPS unit I use which is a bluetooth connected unit and is rubbish because we keep losing the GSP signal and it takes forever to find it again. This is really frustrating when out looking for caches, so, have made the decision to sell it and purchase something with a gps built in. What do people suggest would be a good unit which can still use something simple to use like POI edit to download the coordinates etc... Got about £200-£250 We are still pretty novice at this so any info on downloading geocaches to units would be appreciated. Thanks. Edited June 8, 2007 by Gefaell's Quote
MichealKane Posted June 9, 2007 Posted June 9, 2007 I am new to geocaching also, I went out and got a Etrex venture CX at Wall Mart and it works great very cool. But now for the same price you can get a HC Etrex venture HC witch is said to be better some how. Do note that the venture does not have a cord with it but I got it and saw that my camera cord work fine! I am very happy with it! Michael Kane Quote
+briansnat Posted June 9, 2007 Posted June 9, 2007 Etrex venture CX would be a very good choice. Quote
+Mach2003 Posted June 9, 2007 Posted June 9, 2007 I use a Garmin GPS 10X bluetooth, it has Sirf3 and 'never' looses signal. Quote
+imajeep Posted June 9, 2007 Posted June 9, 2007 The eTrex 'H' units have a new high-sensitivity receiver that has better reception in the woods and canyons (including urban canyons like Chicago, where I live). Rumor has it they're as good as the Garmin 60 Cx models, which are legendary for their ability to pull in a signal under challenging conditions. If you cache in wooded areas or in urban areas with tall buildings, I'd recommend an eTrex 'H' model, or a 60 Cx model. Quote
