Inuyasha Posted June 7, 2007 Posted June 7, 2007 I have a Garmin 76CSx with the latest updates (3.3 unit software and 2.9 GPS software). When I create a route, it creates a route starting from the current location. Is there a way to disable this? Example: I enter waypoints B1 and B2 as the endpoints of my route. When I hit Navigate, it creates a route starting from the current location: <current location> to B1 to B2. Am I doing something wrong? Thanks, Danny Quote

Thanks, Danny That is how it is designed to work--to take you from where you are to where you want to go. You can trick it, but only for demo, planning purposes, not for actual navigation. To trick it, do the following. go to the system menu and put it in demo mode. Go to the sat page menu and tell it new location using map. Pick your new location. Then have it draw your route. Quote
+imajeep Posted June 7, 2007 Posted June 7, 2007 How are you entering the route--into the handheld, or into the MapSource PC software? If you want to enter a remote route, use MapSource. Create waypoints for your route, including the start and destination points, then use the Route tool to connect the waypoints. Quote
Inuyasha Posted June 7, 2007 Author Posted June 7, 2007 1. CenTexDodger, thanks for the info. I tried it out, and it works. 2. imajeep: This problem only occurs when I am entering the route in the GPS. MapSource works just like you mention, but my PC is not always available, so I was trying to experiment on the GPS. I ran into this issue because I am currently in the US and I was trying to enter some routes in Europe, which obviously created a calculation error. I am surprised that there is not a more obvious/user-friendly solution. I think a check box stating whether or not you want to start from the current location would be better. Thanks for your replies. Quote
