+kohldad Posted June 5, 2007 Posted June 5, 2007 I had a friend load up some of the local topo maps on my GPS tonight which naturally wiped out the custom map that was already loaded. I wasn't worried because the custom map I can reload when needed. Before I reload the custom map in a couple of weeks for a 4 wheeling trip, is it possible to use windows explorer to download the image file from the SD card so I can reload it back up after my wheeling trip? Or, does all the mapping handling need to be done through MapSource? Quote
+Mach2003 Posted June 5, 2007 Posted June 5, 2007 the maps are stored under "Garmin" on the Sd card, gmapsup.img, save and change it at will. Quote
+Hynr Posted June 5, 2007 Posted June 5, 2007 ditto the above and: there is a program called Sendmap you can download for sending maps to Garmin GPSrs. If you get that, then you can off-load the .img file as Prime Suspect indicates and name it something you can recognize. Create your regular map set; and then copy it off the sd card and also call it by something more recognizable (keeping the img extension). Then with SendMap you can combine these into one map set and upload that into the GPSr into one gmapsup.img file (Assuming you have enough room for that on your SD card). If your other mapset is one that requires an unlock key then SendMap allows you to insert that. Quote
