+chuckmccky
In reading some cache descriptions I have seen the expression "Hidden in Usual Way?" What does this mean? Quote Link to comment
+briansnat
What I'm guessing is that the cache owner has a certain style and the cache is no different from most of his other caches. Other than that, there is no "usual way" of hiding caches. There may be local variations that are fairly common (e.g. under palmetto leaves are popular in Fl, under rocks in the desert), but there is no one method that can be described as the usual way. +Boot Group
I agree. "Usual" means typcial for your area of the country. In some areas, the "usual" spot may be beside a log with sticks piled on top of it, or under a rock, or beside a cactus. Once you've found a number in your area, you'll get the idea. +whistler & co.
It also depends on the container: "usual" for an ammo can or large tupperware in our area (Northeast PA) means under a pile of rocks or sticks, or inside a hollow log or stump. For a magnetic keyholder, it means stuck on a guardrail or under a lamp post skirt. For a bison tube (similar to those little prescription pill holders with a keychain ring attached) it means hangning on a branch in a tree or shrub, or attached to the trunk of a tree with a eyehook. Once you have more finds, you will pretty much know what is "usual" for your area. Good luck! Quote Link to comment
+michigansnorkelers
It could also mean that it should be reasonably easy to find. I've run into a number of caches that were hidden in very unusual, creative, and diabolical ways. Rather than an easy "walk up", these caches took me more than one visit to find, and had a lot of DNFs logged by other cachers as well. Quote Link to comment
