GPS Suggestions

I am planning to purchase a GPS unit for a graduation present. I currently use the garmin gpsmap 76csx and love it. I would like to find a less expensive unit that has the following similar features:

 

1. Electronic Compass

 

2. Capable of downloading waypoints.

 

I would like to keep the cost around $100-$150 if possible. Can anyone give me some suggestions?

I bet you can get a 60CS on Ebay fairly cheap these days...

I don't know of any in that price range with an electronic compass. When I use my Venture CX I never miss the compass.

I'd echo the recommendation to look for a used 60 cs on eBay. If you geocache in the woods, I'd also suggest adding the SIRF III chipset to your specs. The 76 has it, so if you move to a unit without it (or a comparable high-sensitivity chipset), you might be unpleasantly surprised by reception problems under tree cover.

If the graduate already has a PDA, you could get a good GPS receiver that works in the that price range.
