+Discombob
Hi all you Western Capers I have an idea for an event cache and want some feedback to see if people will be interested. I am wanting to put together a quiz based purely on geocaching - lots of questions on WC caches and cachers, etc etc. Obviously, teams with more finds have an advantage, so I will use some sort of handicap system to make things fair, and try and split the teams evenly. Would you all be interested in this, and if so is anyone going away in the next month, and do you have any venue suggestions or prize donations! thanks russell Quote Link to comment
+colinaly
Great idea Discombob , you can count us in. We should be around. No bright ideas about a venue, but will give it some thought. Quote Link to comment
+Jors
No bright ideas about a venue, but will give it some thought. A venue in Pretoria would be just perfect Quote Link to comment
+Goofster
Sounds like it could be a fun event. Will it be an 'open book' quiz, 'cos some of us have notebooks with HSDPA cards! So the idea is that you will allocate people into teams? 'Cos a team of just me would be at a disadvantage! Quote Link to comment
+bear&fox
Sounds good! Some of us cannot get HSDPA signal at home... so hope it's not an open (note)book event! Quote Link to comment
Guineafowl
No bright ideas about a venue, but will give it some thought. A venue in Pretoria would be just perfect Wouldn't it be more fun in Mpumalanga - I'll put some accommodation prizes in. Quote Link to comment
+vespax
Obviously, teams with more finds have an advantage, so I will use some sort of handicap system to make things fair, and try and split the teams evenly. Wouldn't teams with more finds have a disadvantage due to confusion from all those wonderful cache memories rattling around in their heads? Would like to contribute/play if I am in town when it happens. Quote Link to comment

A venue in Pretoria would be just perfect Jors, sounds like we should in JHB/ PTA fashion hi-jack D-Bob's (thanks D-Bob) idea and run a similar event here in JHB. Any ideas for a venue, something central to JHB/PTA will be best. Quote Link to comment
+Discombob
Well, I am thinking of having it the weekend after the comrades. about 23th June or something like that, depending on when the school holidays are. Most likely go for Mitchells Brewery. If anyone wants to fly me up to Gauteng or Mpumalanga, I will be happy to host a quiz there ) No, definately not an open book quiz. Anyone caught cheating shall be expelled, and reported to the geocaching authorities, and their profiles deleted!! QFC, if you want to hi-jack my idea, I could share some of my very delightful category ideas if you wish. And sorry Vespax, that doesn't hold water! Quote Link to comment

+Discombob
Well, looks like the dates are likely sat 16th or 23rd June. Problem is 16th is comrades weekend, and 23 is start of school holidays. Is anyone running the comrades, and isanyone going away before 23rd? Dilemmas dilemmas Quote Link to comment
+anlufu
Now if you held it in George you might get people from the Western Cape AND and Eastern Cape. Quote Link to comment
+Discombob
Oops, it looks like i might do it on sat 9 June, as we have a special guest visitor waning to attend then, if Erik is kind enough to approve Quote Link to comment
+tomtwogates
Just some feedback on this one! Had a really good evening meeting fellow cachers, new and experienced. A ton of thanks to Discombob for all his hard work in putting together a really challenging quiz evening. A tip for next time - get into Goofster's team! Thanks Dbob Quote Link to comment
