+n0x0n Posted May 27, 2007 Share Posted May 27, 2007 Dear fellow geocachers, you all know the problem: Holidays are coming and there are caches nearby we'd like to visit. But what the hell does this foreign listing translate to? We ask for a translation here in the forums - but this has a big disadvantage: The same listings get translated again and again. Wise geocachers write their listings in their native language and add an english translation. Really good, but it clutters up the listings' page. I came up with the following solution: http://hz6.de/gctrans.html In my (very early) example, I translated the wpt gcqn99 into english. I thought of doing like this: Native speakers send me a simple text-file for a waypoint and the language it is translated into. I put it up on my webspace and people can look for it. You can also link from the gc.com cache page directly to the translation hosted on my server - so people have a direct translation link. Take a look and tell me, what you think about it. Preferably they would just ask you for assistance and place the translation directly on the page. Personally I use this site for translations of webpages.
