+Confucius' Cat Posted May 26, 2007 Posted May 26, 2007 What Would Convince yoU to switch GPSr's? (Or buy a new one) The second in the "WWCU" series. Here's how it works: If you are loyal to one particular brand or model of GPSr, what it would take for you to change your mind. If you are loyal to another brand, you might point out how your preferred brand or model does it better or perhaps an overpowering negative of the other brand or model. This is kind of a spin-off from the recent "has a forum ever convinced you" thread. I will post the same question on other geocaching topics as well as perhaps in off-topic (for things like religion and politics?) if it seems to go we Quote

I wish it could diwnload waypoints, but other then that? It's small enough to look like a cell phone and hide in my hand or pocket, I found it gave much better coords then an Etrex, and we've been through a lot together! What would it take to get me to switch? Someone giving me a 60csx! But even then, I'd still keep the 101 as a backup. Quote

The customer service I've received from Garmin is fantastic. I really can't see what could make me change loyalties at this point. (OK. A private geocache just for me with $36 million in it would certainly sway me.........) Quote
+Miragee Posted May 26, 2007 Posted May 26, 2007 I use a Garmin Vista C and nothing would make me switch brands. When the new Vista HCx comes out later this year, maybe I'll upgrade, but then again, since this one works so well, probably not. Quote
vtmtnman Posted May 26, 2007 Posted May 26, 2007 (edited) Already did . Just ordered a 60cx to replace my GPS V.There's really nothing wrong with my V or II.I love them both. But two batteries instead of four and usb cable convenience are things I need. Athough color is nice too. Now after this, the only way I'd buy a new one is if they made a GPS solely for caching (Which I'm sure they will at some point),but even then I'd give it a long think before hand. Oh yeah...and I was thinking of trying Magellan, but no one was convincing me they were worth trying.I wanted to try out an XL or 500. Edited May 26, 2007 by vtmtnman Quote
+TrailGators Posted May 26, 2007 Posted May 26, 2007 I have a 60CS and I am happy with it. I may upgrade if they come up with something has some new feature that I'd like to have. Quote
+Airmapper Posted May 26, 2007 Posted May 26, 2007 Robertlipe says it best: All GPSes suck; they just suck in different ways. I'm pretty loyal to Lowrance, but I would buy another brand in a minute if I seen that their unit it would fit my needs and budget better than Lowrance. I prefer Lowrance because they offer a lot of features for the money, they have a great product, and good service. At the time I bought my AirMap 500 it was the only reasonably priced all purpose handheld GPS that was designed for pilots. It has served me well in everything from solo cross country flights, to 400 mile road trips, to finding hundreds of caches. Quote
Clan Riffster Posted May 26, 2007 Posted May 26, 2007 What Would Convince yoU to switch GPSr's? (Or buy a new one) A while back I was experiencing the hairpulling aggrivation of owning a PDA with a built in GPSr. It's a Garmin iQue 3600. After determining what a piece of carp it was, I decided Garmin went about the combination backwards. They should've built a GPSr with limited PDA capabilities. (Just enough to hold Cachemate) I wrote both Garmin and Magellan and suggested the idea to them. The crickets you here in the background was their reply to date. Maybe next year? Quote
