+user13371
Took a gamble on a liquidation sale, bought a new, sealed in blister-pack Explorist 400 for $99, delivered. Deal or a dud? I only intend to use it for a little while for some software development, then probably eBay or Craigslist it. Who's the touchstone for Explorist specific wisdom these days? Max? Robert? +EScout
Sounds like a great deal to me. My understanding is that it is just like the 500 only black/gray/white screen, not color. Quote Link to comment
+biosearch
Hmmm... Looks like we had pretty much the same question, no? How difficult is it to update the firmware on these older models? Quote Link to comment
+user13371
Good to know - seemed a good price but liquidation sale is always a gamble. The thing is good so far - I'm sitting inside at my kitchen table and it has a 3D fix tracking 7 sats (including 2 WAAS). GPS reports "Accuracy" (EPE?) between 36 - 49 ft. I plugged the coords it says I'm at into Google Earth - and it shows me only abut 12 ft off. Given the likelihood of registration error on GE's maps, I'd say that's about as good as it can get. +embra
Deal. You'll probably see a profit when you pass that one along. Quote Link to comment

Are there any significant DATA differences between MapSend Topo 3D USA v1.0 (on CD) and v1.5 (on DVD). From what I've been able to read online, they changed the distribution media (CD to DVD) and the copy protection scheme - but did M. change the street map data? Can find v1.0 on eBay a lot easier/cheaper than 1.5 Quote Link to comment
+Walt Jabsco
You got a good deal. I use the 400 and am totally happy with it. They are nice little units Quote Link to comment

Would be happy to know if there is a significat difference between the two version in the way of street/topographic data. Quote Link to comment
+embra
AFAIK there are no map data changes from T3D 1.0 to 1.5. FWIW, my preference is the 1.0 because of less restrictive copy protection. Quote Link to comment
