+glenn95630
Hello. I live in California and my family and I will soon be visiting England. While we plan to see many of the tourist sites (British Museum, National Gallery, Tower of London, St. Paul’s), we are hoping to meet some “locals”. I’ve been geocaching since July 2001 and some of the nicest people I’ve ever met are geocachers. Therefore, I thought it would be fun to meet an English geocacher or two. I’m a civil engineer, my wife is a psychologist, my daughters are 9 and 11 years old. We fly to London on May 23. Meeting for a picnic lunch in St. James Park on Saturday (26th) or dinner on the 26th somewhere around the London Eye would be great. Another option is to join us on a river cruise on Monday the 28th (bank holiday). There are other options too. We are also looking for suggestions for interesting caches and things to see/do. We are staying in Notting Hill. We are going to Dover Castle for Living History and “Attacking the Tower” at the Tower of London. We also have a trip to York planned. To pique your interest, I have a White Jeep (TBM7CQ) that I plan to leave in Euurope. Glenn95630 Quote Link to comment
+harrogate hunters
I am sure you will have a great time.... It appears from your log that you are only visiting London, and I am sure that one of the locals down there will certainly meet you, however if you are planning to venture North, West, South, East (hopefully not too far East !!! ) then list your destinations, as cachers in other parts of the country will only be too please to meet up.. We are near York ! Have a good trip to England and have a great time caching in London, there are some fantastic caches Quote Link to comment
+Simply Paul
Hope you enjoy your trip! A couple of bits of advice: Look 'the wrong way' while crossing roads, and try to do the cache at the top of 'The Monument' (It's called that. Head for Monument tube station and you can't miss it!) if you can. Best £2 ($4. Sorry!) I ever spent to get a cache There's talk of another London event, so perhaps...just maybe...you never know Quote Link to comment
+Sensei TSKC
Glen, Although I do not live in London, I work there and can meet with you during the week Mon - Thurs from around 1pm. You haven't said how long you are here for? Quote Link to comment
+Teasel
We are also looking for suggestions for interesting caches and things to see/do. We are staying in Notting Hill. We are going to Dover Castle for Living History and “Attacking the Tower” at the Tower of London. We also have a trip to York planned. I'm not local, so I can't comment on which are the best caches in the area. However, you might find this G:UK query useful for finding must-do caches in the area. The "rating" column represents the average "enjoyment" score awarded by G:UK users. (You can search for just the top few percent of caches, if you want). If you're travelling by tube, you might want to check out Chris n Maria's tube map. Quote Link to comment

From quick look at the weekly email there is one in Binfield near Bracknell. That would not be too much of a journey from London and you could even go by public transport (if you are holidaying the American way and hiring a car it would be a doddle). www.transportdirect.info says 1.5 hours on the train/bus. Hugh Janus
i would recomend you take some rain gear. Why not bring a face mask for the smogs as well, and don't forget your umbrella and bowler hat so you don't look out of place. Sterotypes, don't you just love them?! Quote Link to comment

There are many caches hidden here making it a caching day for you! Edited May 18, 2007 by goldpot Quote Link to comment
