+ArtieD Posted May 11, 2007 Posted May 11, 2007 (edited) Not too bad...very nice design! I like it! Any fan of Douglas Adams can't be all bad. Edited May 11, 2007 by Arthur & Trillian Quote
+ThirstyMick Posted May 11, 2007 Posted May 11, 2007 (edited) I can't speak for other folks but i think im a big enough geek (& addict) to need (NEED) to buy both of your designs. How could I pass on a hitchhiker coin?! Sigh, more money going to coins....must.... learn...self control edit: by "both of your" i meant both the arthur & trillian design and the hogwild design i.e. neither of you need to worry about the competition...at least in the case of me Edited May 11, 2007 by ThirstyMick Quote
SoCalGeocoins Posted May 11, 2007 Posted May 11, 2007 (edited) Wasn't there already a design in work for this coin? Something to do with hitchhiking, a thumb and a towel and always knowing where it is. I like the idea and the fact they used 42 being lifes big mystery and all, Is this the same design that was posted in the forums? Edited May 11, 2007 by SoCalGeocoins Quote
+0R0B0RUS Posted May 11, 2007 Posted May 11, 2007 Love the coin! Always been a big fan - I don't care if it has nothing to do with geocaching ... Quote

There is another hitchhiking-esque coin...it's our personal coin...check down the coin forum page a bit. However, I will say this design is great and you should just pick up these coins and our coins! Edited May 11, 2007 by Arthur & Trillian Quote

+stellarscapes Posted May 11, 2007 Posted May 11, 2007 (edited) I never saw the Hitchhiker's series or the movie, but my husband is a big fan so I'll probably get a couple of them. Neat looking coin ! Edited May 11, 2007 by stellarscapes Quote
+Ryder3 & Better Half Posted May 11, 2007 Posted May 11, 2007 HI STEVE! Count us in for the usual!! VERY cool coin! Quote
+MommyFinder Posted May 12, 2007 Posted May 12, 2007 Oh, no. Hubby (GrouchoMark) is a HUGE fan. I'll have to buy both! They are both great designs. ('course, it was Groucho's idea to add the dolphins to AnT's coin ). Quote
+Western Mass Clan Posted May 15, 2007 Posted May 15, 2007 Hi! I don't mean to be a party-pooper, I really don't. However, seeing these coins makes me curious about copyright / trademark / intellectual property issues. Granted, it's an issue I don't know much about, but I wonder if the coin creator could get in trouble from the HGTTG publishers, D. Adam's family, or whoever owns the rights now for selling coins with images that are likely trademarked. I've actually been thinking of this a lot lately because I would love to make a geocoin that resembles the "Smiley G" icon in my avatar (to the left) with the Boston Red Sox "B" on the bill, but am gun-shy about using the "B" in fear of getting slapped with a suit or fine from the Red Sox for selling them without licensing rights. Any thoughts? I imagine that this is an issue that is worth discussing as people create "fan coins" or use trademarked symbols (such as the Red Sox "B") on their coins of organizations they are fans of. Maybe this is a discussion for another thread? Matt Quote
+ArtieD Posted May 15, 2007 Posted May 15, 2007 Both this design and the design on my personal has been altered enough to slide by any copyright concerns as far as we can tell... Quote
+nicolo Posted May 15, 2007 Posted May 15, 2007 (edited) I'm not a fan of the series ( but I do remember when I turned 42 ... ) but I love the coin. Looking forward to buying info. Edited May 15, 2007 by nicolo Quote
+KandRS Posted May 15, 2007 Posted May 15, 2007 Both this design and the design on my personal has been altered enough to slide by any copyright concerns as far as we can tell... IANAL, but I'd have to say I think yours probably is fine, I'm not sure about this one. It looks like some of those graphics are exactly the same as those on the books. Quote
TokyoBlossom Posted May 15, 2007 Posted May 15, 2007 OMG...how did I miss this thread before....I MUST have!!! Been a fan since middle school when my programming buddy loaned me his edition. Quote
+GEO*Trailblazer 1 Posted May 16, 2007 Posted May 16, 2007 Both are great looking. I would love to be 42 again. Even better if we turned it around. Quote
+Degai Posted May 17, 2007 Posted May 17, 2007 My son, Tristan, loved the book and movie. I sure hope I don't miss out on this one! Quote
+WWC-World's Worst Cacher Posted May 29, 2007 Author Posted May 29, 2007 Any word on when these will be available? The thinking is right now that they will be out at the end of June or early July Quote
