+egami
I would like to know how I find My ip address. I find the providers but cant find mine. Also can I use this address to find my location on Google earth? Thanks, Rick To find the IP address assigned by your internet provider you can just go to www.whatismyip.com. That is the easiest way. And no, you can't use it on Google Earth. Edited May 11, 2007 by egami Quote Link to comment
+Byron & Anne
The IP of your computer can be found by following sequence; Select Start Select Run Type cmd Type ipconfig If you all the information type ipconfig /all Note the space after ipconfig. Whatsmyip works if you don't have a LAN (Local Area Network). Quote Link to comment

Better off going with the previous suggestions. Quote Link to comment

In 10+ years in IT I've learned to try to offer the most simplistic solution to start with...some users get befuddled with technical directions. Edited May 11, 2007 by egami Quote Link to comment
+Shadow's
Ok, is there any way to use the IP address to locate someone? If so how? Is there a way to block someone from doing this? Quote Link to comment

+Confucius' Cat
Tracking by IP address would require access to the ISP's customer records. In the case of a broadband connection, it is pretty constant for an individual subscriber, but for dialup you would also need to know the time and date of the connection in question. This is the kind of thing that can be done by LEO with appropriate warrants. This is why you SHOULD be worried if you are doing something terroristic or kiddie pornish or the like, but I doubt that any such search ability exists otherwise. But I could be wrong... *installing tin foil hat* Quote Link to comment

Locate your exact physical address? No, not without contacting your ISP. But they can get pretty close, to within a few miles sometimes. Check out this link. How well it works depends on your ISP.
