+Airhead-kb
Do I post my log as a find after I send the requried email? Do I wait on a return email before logging my find? Just trying to understand the sequence of events to earn my first virtual cache... Quote Link to comment
+briansnat
I think most people post their find at the same time they send the e-mail. That is unless the cache owner has differing instructions on the page. In rare cases they want you to wait for their response before you can log. Quote Link to comment
+Haffy
I've never waited for a reply first to log a virtual. I usually log it and then email the owner, but that is just the way I do it. I have never had any complaints as of yet doing it this way. Quote Link to comment

+StarBrand
As the owner of 2 virtual caches, I can tell you that I only sometimes reply to the answer emails because the finders has already logged it as a find. Quote Link to comment

There is a great Virtual here that is very educational. The cache owner requests that you submit your answers in an email before posting your find. SD Historical 1890 However, most Virtuals I have done I post my "Found It" log when I send the email. Quote Link to comment
+Harry Dolphin
I agree. Post the log, and e-mail the owner at the same time. If the owner does not agree that you found it (if the owner is still active), then delete the find. I did two that said 'e-mail me first before posting'. Didn't hear back in two weeks. So I checked and found that the owner had not signed on in a few months. And the plaque is missing on one. Oh, well. DNFed one where the secret service would not let you anywhere near the site. (Didn't stop a lot of people from logging it anyway.) (Owner since changed the requirements.) Found another where no one could possibly fulfill the requirements for six months, due to maintenance work on the building. Didn't stop many people from logging it anyway. So, go right ahead and log it. If the owner does not agree, s/he will let you know. In that case, of course, you would delete your find. Quote Link to comment
