City Navigator is the only mapping software that works on Garmin.

 

Each GPSr manufacturer uses proprietary software.

MGNAv8, 7, 6, etc. MG will autoroute, no matter what Garmin's compatibility chart says.

Yes. I am autorouting MGNAv8 on my VentureCX. You can also use it on nonRouting GPSr (like my plain Legend) but of course it doesn't autoroute on GPSr that don't support that function.

Older versions (if you can find them, and unlock them) will work on your GPS. Some of the very old data maps have no locks on them at all.

MG uses smaller map segments and will not auto route without a bit of hacking. Also, the MG software does not use lock codes. Otherwise the maps and POIs are the same.

City Navigator 8 is the newest Version so the roads will be more up-to-date in areas where there has been new construction. Also, the POIs will be more up-to-date.

So how do I convince MGNA to autoroute on my Garmin legend Cx. I like to Idea of saving $30 so buying MGNA is what I want to do.

I would think that City Navigator Version 9 should be coming out in the fall. At least that's what I'm hoping...
