Jonathan Pryce, in which Terry Gilliam film did he star? Oooh Julia Sawalha :anicute: Anyway back to the real world :- Think it was Brazil. Quote

And as just a suggestion (feel free to ignore) how about a question inspired by the previous answer/question, no matter how tenuous? Quote
MartyBartfast Posted August 23, 2012 Posted August 23, 2012 (edited) OK then, When did Brazil win the last football world cup, and who did they beat in the final? Edit: bonus kudos for the score! Edited August 23, 2012 by MartyBartfast Quote
TheOldfields Posted August 23, 2012 Posted August 23, 2012 Think that's 1970. Can't remember who they beat but I'd guess West Germany as they always got to the final. Complete guess at a score of 2-0. Quote

MTH Posted August 23, 2012 Posted August 23, 2012 I have a vague idea they won in 2002. Not sure about the opposition so will guess Germany. Quote
MartyBartfast Posted August 23, 2012 Posted August 23, 2012 I have a vague idea they won in 2002. Not sure about the opposition so will guess Germany. DING they beat Germany 2-0 in 2002 Quote
Beach_hut Posted August 23, 2012 Posted August 23, 2012 I have a vague idea they won in 2002. Not sure about the opposition so will guess Germany. So they did. Good call. Quote
Dogfort Posted August 24, 2012 Posted August 24, 2012 2002 when ronaldo was in his prime. I believe they beat Germany 2-1 or 2-0. That team was insane. Ronaldo, Rivaldo and Ronaldinho Quote
MTH Posted August 24, 2012 Posted August 24, 2012 I'm struggling to think of another question, so will keep this on the same topic. How many times have Brazil and Germany played each other in World Cup history? Quote
MTH Posted August 24, 2012 Posted August 24, 2012 Not 4. Statistics can be very misleading sometimes, but here are just a few. No Of Appearances in World Cups: Brazil: 19 (every tournament) Germany: 16 No of Wins Brazil: 5 Germany: 3 No of appearances in the final Brazil: 7 Germany: 7 No of appearances in the semi-final Brazil: 10 Germany: 12 Quote
Beach_hut Posted August 24, 2012 Posted August 24, 2012 I'm struggling to think of another question, so will keep this on the same topic. How many times have Brazil and Germany played each other in World Cup history? I have a hunch when they played in the aforementioned final I read it was their first match together, so I'm going to say once. Quote
MTH Posted August 24, 2012 Posted August 24, 2012 Ding! Hard to believe but, despite all that success, the 2002 final was their first (and so far only) meeting. Quote
Beach_hut Posted August 25, 2012 Posted August 25, 2012 OK my turn then. Change of subject... What was Stock Aitken & Waterman's first #1 in the UK? Quote
TheOldfields Posted August 25, 2012 Posted August 25, 2012 On the basis that it's the only one I can remember, I'll have a guess at I should be so lucky by Kylie. Think they had a few before that one though. Quote

Dogfort Posted August 25, 2012 Posted August 25, 2012 SOrry but going back to the previous question. East Germany played Brazil in the 70s. Does that not count as Germany playing Brazil? Quote
Knights-Templar Posted August 25, 2012 Posted August 25, 2012 Was it Rick Ashley 'Never Gonna Give You Up'...? Remember it was huge back in the day, not sure if before or after Kylie though. Quote

Beach_hut Posted August 26, 2012 Posted August 26, 2012 This question is doing nothing for anyone's musical credibility... You're all a couple of years too late. Clue: the band is largely a one-hit wonder, however the front person has subsequently become notorious... Quote
Beach_hut Posted August 26, 2012 Posted August 26, 2012 You Spin Me Round by Dead or Alive DING!!! Right answer! Quote
TheOldfields Posted August 26, 2012 Posted August 26, 2012 I would have thought that the only people whose musical credibility has been damaged would be those who knew the answer. Quote
Beach_hut Posted August 27, 2012 Posted August 27, 2012 I would have thought that the only people whose musical credibility has been damaged would be those who knew the answer. Luckily I don't have any... Anyway, urbandude it's your turn to ask one. Or I can ask one? Quote
MTH Posted August 28, 2012 Posted August 28, 2012 going back to the previous question. East Germany played Brazil in the 70s. Does that not count as Germany playing Brazil? Not it doesn't. Ok, the question could have been worded better but it is correct. The German Democratic Republic ("East Germany") was a separate nation that ceased to exist when it became part of the Federal Republic of Germany in 1990. We just happen to have called the Federal Republic of Germany "West Germany" up until 1990 and "Germany" ever since. Calling urbandude23 for the next question please... Quote
Beach_hut Posted August 31, 2012 Posted August 31, 2012 Bumping this... 12 hours and I'll ask another (unless urbandude steps in during that time) Quote
mellers Posted September 1, 2012 Posted September 1, 2012 (edited) Simply Paul (the OP) instituted a 7-day rule a while back, which gives the respondent a week to answer (sorry that should read ask!) a question... after which time anyone can step in and ask one.
