MTH
I expect it's going to be a northern club. I'm tempted to go for Newton Heath, but will have a guess at Wigan. Quote Link to comment
The Patrician
Arsenal? I think they were the first club from southern England to join the league, football was obviously a dirty northern habit to begin with! Quote Link to comment
TheOldfields
I think that there are two other clubs currently prem league that were founder members. Stoke? Quote Link to comment

Simply Paul
Remember back to 1999. Doctor Who and the Curse of Fatal Death featured 'JoLum' as the 13th doctor. Quote Link to comment
TheOldfields
Joanna Lumley gets a ding. As well as her and Rowan Atkinson, also featured Richard E Grant, Jim Broadbent and Hugh Grant as various versions of the Doctor, with Jonathan Pryce as the Master and Julia Sawalha as the Dr's other half. +Simply Paul
Mmm, Julia Sawalha. As Emma. I don't remember Hugh Grant in it, but it was a while ago. Sticking with... Jonathan Pryce, in which Terry Gilliam film did he star? Quote Link to comment

TheOldfields
Think that's 1970. Can't remember who they beat but I'd guess West Germany as they always got to the final. Complete guess at a score of 2-0. Quote Link to comment

MTH
I'm struggling to think of another question, so will keep this on the same topic. How many times have Brazil and Germany played each other in World Cup history? Quote Link to comment
MTH
Not 4. Statistics can be very misleading sometimes, but here are just a few. No Of Appearances in World Cups: Brazil: 19 (every tournament) Germany: 16 No of Wins Brazil: 5 Germany: 3 No of appearances in the final Brazil: 7 Germany: 7 No of appearances in the semi-final Brazil: 10 Germany: 12 Quote Link to comment

I have a hunch when they played in the aforementioned final I read it was their first match together, so I'm going to say once. Quote Link to comment
MTH
Ding! Hard to believe but, despite all that success, the 2002 final was their first (and so far only) meeting. Quote Link to comment

MTH
going back to the previous question. East Germany played Brazil in the 70s. Does that not count as Germany playing Brazil? Not it doesn't. Ok, the question could have been worded better but it is correct. The German Democratic Republic ("East Germany") was a separate nation that ceased to exist when it became part of the Federal Republic of Germany in 1990. We just happen to have called the Federal Republic of Germany "West Germany" up until 1990 and "Germany" ever since. Calling urbandude23 for the next question please... Quote Link to comment
