The All New All New Groundspeak UK Pub Quiz

7 is Billy Bragg, 'The Short Answer' and it goes: No amount of poetry will mend my broken heart but you can put the hoover round if you want to make a start (got to be in the top ten ever best lyrics).

He is a great lyricist. My favourite is the line from New England. "Though I put you on a pedestal you put me on the pill."

Does anyone know the morse code distress call for "I appear to have ants crawling across my screen!"

Thank you... now I have to think of a question!

OK... We just held an event in Malvern and annoyed everyone there with a quiz about the hills (Hill, Spring or Bobbins it was called). So, without searching the web...

If you look due east from Worcestershire Beacon, the highest point on the Malvern Hills, what is the next set of "hills" that are higher. A hint: you cannot see them because they are too far away,

The Urals?

That was a quick DING!

You should have come to the event yesterday, you might have won  (although I hasten to add that the quiz was a multi-guess to do with names of the local hills and springs)

Over to Ec... sorry, dodgydaved,

A sort of half lucky guess......I had a mate who lived in a hillside in Grenoside near Sheffield - he always used to say the next high ground to the east was The Urals

OK....easy one to move things along:

There are four British drivers taking part in the 2008 Formula One championship. Lewis Hamilton, David Coulthard and Jenson Button are three of them, but who is the other one?

Anthony Davidson... He lives just down the road from me in Hemel Hempstead. Currently contracted to the Super Aguri team but they didn't race in the last GP.

Over to you J! :laughing::laughing:<_<

OK – Lets see if any of you are old enough to remember these old TV ‘Westerns’

1) First an easy one – Rawhide.

We all know that Clint Eastwood played the character Rowdy Yates but what was his job title in the series?

2 & 3) Wagon Train

What was the name of the Wagon Master played by Ward Bond?

And who played the scout Flint McCulloch?

4) Who played the lead role in the series ‘Cheyenne’?

5) Bret and Bart Maverick had an English cousin… What was his name?

A Ding to whoever gets the most correct answers or the last correct answer if it’s a tie.

1. Rowdy Yates - I think he was a Drover!

2. No idea

3. Clint Walker - Cheyenne Brodie

4. No idea

1)... He might have been a drover but that wasn't his 'job title'

3)... 99% right, it was Clint Walker but the character was Cheyenne Bodie

1 ding to TLHM

It's been a while since I last looked at the quiz but when I looked a few minutes ago and saw these questions I suddenly felt OLD!

Here are the results from the Wolves jury:-

1 Rowdy Yates was a Ramrod (a bit like a foreman)

2 Ward Bond played Seth Adams

and

3 Robert Horton was the scout

4 Cheyenne Bodie was played by Clint Walker

5 The cousin was Cousin Beau played by Roger Moore

Hugh O'Brian played Wyatt Earp in the TV series and he carried a Buntline Special etc.....oh how I loved those 50's/60's series

Splendid... you've got them all correct, so a four point DING to you as TLHM had already got Clint Walker.

Over to you for the next question :)

I'm going to stick with the western theme.

We all know that the Lone Ranger rode a horse called Silver but who can tell me the names of the horses ridden by the following:-

1. Tonto

2. Rowdy Yates

3. Range Rider

Same rules - DING to the most correct or to the last one in the event of a tie.

1) I think Tonto's horse was called 'Scout'

2) Not the foggiest

3) The Range Rider (Jock Mahoney) had a 'sidekick' named Dick West but no idea what his horse was called.

1. Tonto's horse was Scout - a little ding to Pharisee

2. Rowdy Yates' horse was indeed Midnight - another little ding to Pharisee

3. ?

Will Pharisee make it the treble or is someone else going to steal?

That was a complete 'stab in the dark'...... Yeah, ok, I'll get me coat

I have no idea what the last answer is and I'm off to Cornwall shortly so I'll have to leave that and subsequent question to someone else

2. Jane Seymore

3. Catherine Parr
