Where is Spinalonga and what is it most known for?

It's a small island off the NE coast of Crete. Famous for being a leper colony and location of at least one episode of the 70s BBC TV series The Lotus Eaters.

There was a cache on the island last time I was htere. Gave up on it though as it was just way too hot to climb up to it.

That was too easy, obviously! One more doctor to find, but the DING goes to Guanojuato.

Ness.

Martybartfast got the last ones, so he should get the Ding - that's how multi answer ones have worked in the past.

I'm still scratching my head to work out how I knew the ones I did!

Mind you, I thought Sylvester McCoy was the last until the recent 'revival'. Who's the 'Paul' in the middle?

Where have all the wobbly sets and blue peter sticky-back-plastic monsters gone? :yikes:

Paul McGann (he did the TV film version), there was also Peter Cushing in a film version years ago.

You can have the DING as I had no idea what the question was about until you came along, also I can't think of any questions :yikes:

Exactly my sentiments in passing the Ding in the first place. :yikes:

A really easy one for the pedants, that's sort of been done before. :yikes:

What is the largest lake in the Lake District?

Link to comment

I saw this on QI, the answer is either that there are NO lakes in the lake district or maybe some titchy one I can't think of. None of the obvious ones.

Sorry about giving the ding to the wrong person, I thought the person who worked out the link should be the one.

You don't need to watch QI, just follow this thread. There is only 1 lake in the Lake District (see past questions), and I THINK it's Bassenthwaite - ergo Bassenthwaite is the largest lake in the Lake District.

ROFL - I refuse to answer on the grounds that I set the original pedantic question in question.....

Sorry for the delay!

Marty is correct, so he gets the DING. Bassenthwaite Lake is the only lake (by name) in the lake district. Though even that had other names in the past.

I knew this had come up before, but I thought it was in response to a question about the biggest lakes in Scotland, the Lake district & Wales, for which the answer was given as Windermere. Where's that search facility? :)

As Marty really got the ding on the question before anyway, he deserves to set the question

There's always one isn't there! :)

Well for your double post you get a

DING DING

And yes it was the King's horse in the Derby.

I was sure that we were taught at school that it was Emily Pankhurst. However, about 30 seconds of research has taught me something! There wasn't an Emily Pankhurst, but there was an Emmeline. It would appear that over the intervening years these two suffragettes have merged into one, or at least they have for pupils taught by my old history teacher. :D

Or I could just be losing my marbles completely. :o

ding, ding, ding, ding and an echoey, resounding DING for getting most as well.....

Over to TLHM.

I'd just like to thank a 21 year old son who has a PHD in 'the Simpsons' and should spend more time studying his chosen Uni subjects rather than watching cartoons on the gogglebox.
