+kbootb Posted March 30, 2007 Posted March 30, 2007 I was looking for evidence of when the pictures were taken. So I was looking for local building projects and came across the Arsenal Stadium. The new one hasn't got the pitch laid yet and the old one is still in use. But then I looked closely at the old stadium.... what one earth is on the pitch? Suggestions please. Quote
Nediam Posted March 30, 2007 Posted March 30, 2007 (edited) Here's the co-ords N 51 33 27.67 W 00 06 10.49 (just copy and paste them) I believe they are frames for lights. The lights are used to help the grass grow. If you look in the 18 yard box to the south you can see the pitch is illuminated Here's a link to the Lighting System Edited March 30, 2007 by Nediam Quote

Looks like some sort of frame they'd use to protect the turf... Simon Quote

(I didn't give people the coords... wanted to make it a hunt ) Nice to see that Arsenal are contributing to global warming.... Quote
+Just Roger Posted March 30, 2007 Posted March 30, 2007 I think they are rugby goal posts specially designed so they can play 2 games on the same pitch at the same time and make even more money for Abramovitch Quote
+Skate and Jane Posted March 30, 2007 Posted March 30, 2007 Not too clued up about who owns which football teams then Quote
+Just Roger Posted March 30, 2007 Posted March 30, 2007 no - not a clue. Is football the one they play with a big round ball or with hammers on horseback? Quote
+Skate and Jane Posted March 30, 2007 Posted March 30, 2007 Nothing to be ashamed of. Sometimes I wish I didn't know about it the way some teams play ! Quote
+wizard1974uk Posted March 31, 2007 Posted March 31, 2007 It's an array of extra terrestrial aerials to guide in the mothership and take over the planet Quote
Edgemaster Posted April 3, 2007 Posted April 3, 2007 Just a short side note. In some places, Google has higher-definition imagery (ie, greater than what Google Maps usually offers) It is quite difficult to find, but here's an example. Zoom out a little. Quote
+NickandAliandEliza Posted April 3, 2007 Posted April 3, 2007 The Arsenal Stadiums (new and old) are well known for having very little atmosphere - I assume this must be attempt to import some, but the contractor got the wrong end of the stick........... Quote
