Sorry, I see our FAQs are a little incomplete on this problem. You first will have to go to the service function menu as described in that section of the FAQs and enter #95 (erase serial flash memory). After you do this, then when you turn the GPS on with the USB cable connected, the computer should recognize the GPS and connect so you can follow the directions I first pointed you towards.

 

I'll try to re-write that section so all the information is in one place. Replacing the basemap had come up before when people had to escape the endless NAND loop, which required clearing serial memory. The basemap replacement was a side effect in that solution, not the presenting problem.

 

Please let me know if you need any more specific information, and how you make out.
