On the Hunt / Search page, in the decimal format, it has an example coordinate at:

 

33.5111,-112.125

 

There are a few caches nearby, but what exactly is at that location? Anyone nearby who can help and stop by / snap a photo? Is it just a completely random spot?

All I can really say at this time is that there may be located at that spot the first stage of a Platinum-members-only cache, but the information to be gained at this spot will be totally meaningless to you unless you are a Platinum member and have also received the "what to look for" and decryption info via email.

What is a Platinum Member? I have heard nothing of this. There is no package.

I interrogated a local Arizona cacher for hours on end, using various appliances of an unusual nature. I got the following line out of the poor sap:

 

"Those cords are home of the first urban cache in Arizona.. no cache there now.. Have thought of placing another one there.."

I don't think they send that info out by email anymore. Now that the super fast Platinum-only servers are online, they were able to introduce the Platinum-only site. You should be seeing all the platinum-only caches (POCs) in your searches.

I already asked the owner of that cache about the coordinates (see above). It's not the same cache.

I had a bit of trouble logging onto the platinum site when i first got the invitation a couple of months ago. Found out pretty quickly that i needed to use an eye retina scanning device in order to access it. Finally recieved it and i havn't had any trouble since! :sad:

False alarm all, I couldn't make it there today. The wife decided to get a flat tire and have me take it to get fixed. So the mystery will have to wait a while longer. :)

 

BTW the dog is well fed today, thanks.

Hmm, the conspiracy theory is growing... but then again, my wife doesn't even know what GPS stands for, so either she's not involved in the cover up, or she's put on an Oscar-worthy performance as a technophobe for the last 8 years :blink:

That's funny because when I go to the cache page of Metro Pecan and click on "or convert to NAD27 at Jeeep.com" it converts the coords to 33.51112/112.12499 which in my book is very close to 33.5111/112.125

 

Anybody know how far apart those two sets of coords would be?
